Let me share my dining experience, by far worst I’ve ever experienced. “Very poor customer service” – is an understatement. We noticed this place on our way to our hike in a Big Pocono State Park, and thought it will be cool to eat there since we did not have Indian food for a while, and it was an old train car! Got there around 3.40 pm – after the lunch crowd and before dinner – should not be that busy right? There is no one there to great you, however there is sign “please wait to be seated”, and so we did, along with other people already waiting. When restaurant employee finally shows there at the register to process a payment, he does not even acknowledge anybody. Does whatever he intended to do, and walks away. Then few minutes later waves at us from the distance and walks us to the table. Finally we are seated, but no one acknowledges us at the table either, so I went and grabbed us menus. I know we should’ve probably left right then, but we left Philadelphia at 10 am, drove for 2 hours, and hiked 7.5 miles, so we are pretty hungry and tired at this point, so we decided to give it a chance and stay. Luckily I got some waiters attention, and told him there no one is waiting on us yet. So he comes back and takes our order. Does not offer water, does not bring silverware and plates. I asked for a glass of wine, and my dining companion for a cup of tea, which he needed to be reminded several times about. An hour goes by, there is still no food. I politely asked him to check on it. Shortly after he brings part of our order to the table and everything is cold – lukewarm. When I notified him about this fact, his response was that he just got it from the kitchen. When I told him again that our food is cold and I do not believe it should be served cold, his response was: sorry, I did not get you. So now it almost 6 pm, and we are starving, so we ate our cold meal. Now some other waiter approached us, and we tried to tell him, if they forgot to place the remaining part of our order, which is fish tandoor, it’s perfectly fine at this point, as we do not want it any more. He said ‘no-no, it’s coming”. Finally an hour and a half after we ordered it, fish tandoor was brought to the table, about twenty minutes after we finished with other food. I am not sure how long it takes to prepare fish tandoor, but I am sure it is less than an hour and a half. Avoid, and take your...
Read moreThis place has nice ambience and lot of menu options, especially Tandoor. Apart from these two I didn't find anything positive about this place. I went there for dinner with family, they had enough seating as when we reached mostly place was empty. Soon 3 other families joined in on other tables. For just 4 tables staff acted as if they are super busy, we sat and no one showed up even to serve water for inital 15 mins. Finally we got snack plates and water, and after another 15 mins we had some one willing to take our order. At time of order staff behavior was okay not pleasing but not rude. Once we ordered food, we were told they are super busy and it would be 25 mins before food arrives. So total an hour from the time we entered. We were very hungry so we waited ofcourse. I noticed flies flying around which I was very annoyed about, I have not seen flies in a restaurant before but again we ignored. After 30 mins food arrived and I had orderd a dish which was supposed to be non-spicy or super mild, I have requested 2-3 times to make sure it would be non-Spciy as my son cant handle spice. Other food we ordered med spicy. Finally when food arrived and I did a taste of my son's food it was super spicy, when I asked staff suddenly his attitude changed. He said this is the best they can do, which was very unprofessional. Instead of promising before that they can do whatever spice level you want he should have said we cant change any spice level you get what you get. I had to get yogurt for my son and he ate naan with just yogurt which was pathetic as everything was so slow there was no hope to get him another dish with gurantee that they can make mild. I ordered Panner Tikka and My husband Seekh Kabab, along with chana masala, plain rice and veg pakoda. Veg pakoda came cold, soggy as if it was made a day before and served now. Their quantities are super tiny so one curry can only serve one person but you would pay $15 for it. Seekh kabab and Paneer tikka wete average and Chana masala had some different gravy all together. We also ordered Chilli chicken which was served as chicken mixed with tomato sauce. It was not edible at all. On complaing we again got very cold and rude response. My take on this place is go only you have 2 hours to spend, and extra money to waste. I wont ever go to this place again. They should work on higene, taste and staff attitude...
Read moreUpon arriving at this place I thought it was cool that they converted and were using an old train as part of their restaurant however, after getting out of the car I realized that this place has an identity crisis. Many of the signs of the old restaurant still exist not only with a style that doesn't match the Indian restaurant but there were also signs that had the old name of the restaurant which was a bar and lounge.
We waited at the sign to wait to be seated for about 4 minutes before being even acknowledged, at this point I should have just walked out the door if this was the level of service they were going to provide however we stayed as we were hoping to find a good Indian restaurant in the neighborhood.
We were finally acknowledged and told to have a seat, the waiting room appeared to be left overs from the hotel next door as the couches were dilapidated old pullout couches and outdated furniture. While walking past the buffet area, there was still food that appeared to be several hours old.
Upon being seated we were reading the menu and two things stood out, mandatory 16% tip on parties of 4 or more, and rice isn't included with the dishes. Both of these are just weird, but I can understand the first if they have a younger crowd that has a habit of stiffing the staff.
We got out food, butter chicken, chicken vindaloo, aloo gobi and a paneer dish. 3 out of the dishes were not good.
Butter Chicken- Chicken was sliced unlike the chicken in the chicken vindaloo, I'm thinking this was old precooked chicken possibly from the buffet as it was dry. You can drown something in sauce but if it's dry and overcooked you can still tell.
Aloo Gobi and the Paneer had a slight bitter taste to them, something was off, in addition the potatoes in the Aloo Gobi were overcooked and mushy.
The flavors and freshness were lacking from this restaurant and we will not go back. It's sad when people say the best part of their meal was the naan, and even that wasn't that great.
The staff was there, but far from friendly. They did their job and that was about it. No checking in on how things were, no telling us any specials if there were any, communication was a minimum.
My recommendation is to go find somewhere else to spend your money, because this place was a complete...
