I never would have anticipated giving this a place a one star review, however I am in complete shock by how rude the waitress just was to us! My husband and I just moved to Pompano beach in the neighborhood recently. Today was our 3rd visit to this restaurant and we go in and everything is going well up until the check comes and we give a $100 bill. The waitress says they can't accept it and goes to ask another waitress. Then the waitress with the short black curly hair comes up and says "We don't accept $100 bills, I've told you this last time!" Actually she never did because we paid with smaller bills but that's besides the point. She then asks if my husband has a card and he says jokingly "no not at all", then he says "of course I do" because he was holding them in his hand. No big deal however now she gets all huffy and says "I don't have time for this and storms off with the card, then returns and literally throws the card and pen in the middle of the table and walks off. Both of us are now in shock and my husband and I ask why she is being so rude to us for no reason. She just goes on to say she's not, which wasnt true and then my husband says he is a Vietnam vet and doesn't appreciate her treating us this way when we just wanted to enjoy our meal, her response "maybe this is the place for you then!" WOW!! unbelievable, then we go to leave and my husband hands another waitress the tip and says to please hand it to Linda our server, and then once again the lady with the short black curly hair pipes in from over by the door and says "that's for all of us!" First of all why, why be so rude to people for no reasons, we did nothing to you?? Your in the service industry, we had a great meal and then you go and ruin it over a $100 bill we didn't know we couldn't use and treat us like dirt all because your in some sort of mood. Way to make us feel unwelcome over something so minimal! As a business owner I would never allow an employee to treat customers like this as they are the backbone of any business. Lady you should be embarrassed by your behavior, not a good quality to carry on in life and inject into other...
Read moreOn May 3, 2025, my friend and I visited Athena Greek Street Diner, expecting a casual, enjoyable meal. Unfortunately, we witnessed one of the most uncomfortable and unprofessional customer service situations we’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. A woman and her party had ordered food, including a to-go omelet, which they requested be made soft. When the omelet arrived overcooked, they politely asked the server to have it remade. Instead of a simple acknowledgment of the mistake, the staff acted as though fulfilling this request was an inconvenience. One staff member even mentioned, “Are you sure? If I tell Helen, she’ll freak out,” which was odd and discouraging. The owner, Helen, came out to address the issue but quickly became defensive rather than trying to understand the customer’s request. She insisted the omelet was soft and made excuses, stating that it was overcooked because it had been sitting out. When the customer remained calm and insisted the omelet wasn’t prepared as requested, Helen responded with a dismissive comment about the cost of eggs, which we found completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Eventually, the omelet was remade, but the tension didn’t end there. When the customer questioned an unexpected service charge on their bill, the staff gave inconsistent and confusing reasons for the charge. Rather than offering a clear explanation, the response only added to the frustration. To make matters worse, the owner’s son—who had initially taken the order—began using aggressive language towards the customer, calling her various insults. This behavior was completely inappropriate, and the owner had to intervene. The staff even brought up an old review from the customer, mocking her past tipping habits. Overall, this experience left us feeling extremely uncomfortable and disappointed. It seemed more like a personal grudge than a customer service interaction. We understand that mistakes happen, but the way the staff handled the situation was unacceptable. We will not be returning to this establishment, and we recommend others...
Read moreThe owner Helen has such an attitude and is very rude it’s not even funny. I was sitting one time eating and this lady and her daughter went to the restroom and a light tile feel on her head and of course no matter what it is light or not the owner should have asked if her daughter was okay when the mom told her about it she just said it’s fine it’s a light tile and kept serving other customers the mother started crying I am assuming it’s because she couldn’t believe how rude the owner was to her and once they decided to leave the owner went outside to tell them they left something which they didn’t she started being rude and acting out at them again that even one of her workers had to pick her up to take her inside.
Now today I was served a gyro and it was cold, fatty, rough pieces and when I told her she was rude and had an attitude for no reason and started arguing saying that she doesn’t understand she saw it come out they have different size pieces and how the meet may be different every time and to be honest it didn’t even taste like gyro to start off with so then she had an attitude to take it off the bill once my mom had to ask her instead of her saying it to us since she noticed we didn’t eat our food she should have known, but in the end she just took mine off since I ate one less bite then my mom did even though we were complaining about both of our foods. She even said that she asked me twice which she did but the first time I wasn’t even started since I was on my phone writing a quick email and the second time there was only one piece bitten out of it which was basically me eating the lettuce and tomatoes and then afterwards I told the waitress not long after that being when everything else started.
To know that we have been customers of hers since she was affiliated next to holy cross and she has this attitude and rudeness is just sad she needs to take a class on how to treat her customers right because without us she wouldn’t...
