I canāt rave enough about Gene and the gang at Frankās Pizza. Our son was in a play at StageWorks 237 on Hamburg Turnpike. We donāt know the area well but I was looking, last minute (Thurs 11/3, the first night of the show) for somewhere to have a cast party for 19 kids and at least one chaperone per kid on Sat 11/5 after the show. I thought it would be easy to find a pizza place because where we live most places are open on Saturdays until at least 10-11p
Finding an appropriate place was proving to be very difficult because apparently most places in Pompton Lakes close by 8:30p, even on Saturday. I asked the pizza place closest to the theater, which shall remain nameless, but they not-so-nicely turned me away, even though I was going to guarantee them 30-40 people. I kept googling and found Frankās, just a minute down the road.
I was nervous to ask because of how I was treated at the other place but I cautiously asked Gene if they could host our party. He enthusiastically agreed. What made this even nicer is that they actually close at 8:30p but would stay open for us - which meant that we had the whole place to ourselves!
We started trickling in about 8:50p. Approximately 40 people. Gene had a full staff - two wonderful servers who graciously dealt with our chaos and like four guys dealing with the counter orders. There was more than enough food, everything was delicious, and they couldnāt have been nicer.
If we do any other plays at StageWorks or Rhino theaters, Frankās will be our only choice for our cast party. It was so amazing for the kids to have closure on their play in such a great space. Itās large, clean, and the servers are fantastic. I donāt know if they normally do parties but if youāre thinking of having a large gathering in this area, this is the place to do it. The kids appreciated it so much! Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really wanted to like this place. Working close by, I thought this would be a great, quick lunch spot for me. I've tried it 3 separate times, and here's my honest take on this place.
First time I went, I had a slice of their Margherita Vodka. It was just OK. What really threw me for a loop though was the price. $9 for a single specialty slice and a Pure Leaf iced tea? Sheesh.
Second time I went in, I got a slice of their Salad pizza. It was just decent. It was more lettuce and onions than anything, barely any eggplant on it, and the crust had zero taste. Again, I was thrown for a loop when the total came out to $8 for that slice and a simple Poland Springs water!
Last time I went, I figured OK, I'll play it safe this time, and try a slice of their plain pizza. That was the biggest mistake in my life. I've had pizza from everywhere in this state, some bad, some good, some just passable, but this single plain pizza slice had to be the worst single slice of pizza I have ever had. Complete slop. So thin, that it was impossible to even pick up and eat, you had to literally fold this thing twice. Both the cheese and the crust were completely tasteless. Also, the cheese was super-oily, dripping from the slice like a waterfall. This plus a Poland Spring water came out to $6. Unbelievable greed here. Do yourself a favor, go to Nicky G's down the road, you can get 2 large slices and a water for $6. Go to Tony's down the street. Go to King's Pizza. Just go anywhere but this place. Their other food might taste good, but I'll never try it, because after 3 failed attempts, they no longer get my business. Sorry Frank's, I really wanted to like you, but you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy boyfriend and I had spent all day moving into our new apartment and wanted something quick and easy for dinner because we were exhausted. I placed a delivery order at 7:06pm (large pie & garlic knots). At 8:11pm, I called to check on the status. I offer to pick it up because we are so close and I'm quite hungry. "It's already out for delivery," I'm told. Twenty minutes later, I call back again and I'm asked for my address again because "there was some confusion." I provide it again and again ask if I can just come pick up my order because at this point, I'm so hungry and frustrated. I'm again told the driver has it and it will be right there. Our order finally arrives at 8:39pm. So cold it was inedible (I know because I took a hopeful bite). So I'm preheating the oven, close to tears, and I open the chilly knots and see that there's no marinara sauce. My boyfriend walks to Frank's (because that's how close we are) hoping to score some sauce, express our displeasure at our experience, and give them the opportunity not to lose a customer (hint: all you have to do is apologize). He got no apology despite expressing frustration with our order to the person at the counter while others stood around obviously overhearing, and returned defeated with just my marinara. It didn't take him over an hour and half though so at least there's that. Will definitely not give this place another chance. No business that delivers food in the state we got ours in cares about their reputation, their customers, or...
