Wasabi Fusion — Restaurant in Pooler

Food: 1/5 Soggy, too much sauce, a hint of soured rice, dry fish, and unappetizing presentation. All for the grand total of $30. See for yourself in the photos... Not worthy of the asking price, as I'm sure you'd agree, too.

Service: 2/5 While my rating my seem unfair for the servers whom had worked that day. It still reflects overall quality of service I'd received.

Visited this establishement on Sunday 6/16/2024. I'd arrived at the restaurant around 6:30pm, placed my order in by 6:40pm. Food didn't come out until 7:29pm exactly. Between this time, my server had checked on me twice. Once to bring me my salad. Second time when I had ordered a beer around 7:05pm... just to kill some time. Between that and the arrival of food, no one came by to check on me. Even when my beer glass/can was empty. Because of the terrible delays in bringing what I'd ordered, I feel they were trying to avoid eye contact... or any interaction for that matter. Also, my server didn't understand what ginger was. I don't blame the server, however, I do blame the owner/head waitress whom seems to the owner/operator of the restaurant for not training the server with the basics. Almost forgot to mention, when I ordered aforementioned beer, I had asked for a Sapporo. When I asked for a second one, the same server had brought me a Sapporo Black instead... and ensuring me that it's the same one I'd ordered previously. What?

Atmosphere: 2/5 Some people may say, "Hey, the restaurant was probably really busy. Thus, why they had brought out your late." Well, you see. I had taken a picture of the dining area. See for yourself and tell me how "FULL" the restaurant is. Mind you, most of these people still sitting were on their way out. By the time I got done with my plate of food, there were only 2 tables plus the same people on the sushi bar. The decor is old. Unorganized. And the space is restrictive. My chair was a bit too low compared to the table. But I guess that is all subjective. They do offer a "Happy Hour" for drinks, but it's only good until 6:30pm.

Overall, while I wasn't execting a great experience, but I'd sure hoped it would be good enough for me to visit regularly as it is the only sushi place near where I live temporarily. But after spending $50+ for a dinner, I'm more than disappointed to say that I would not be back at this establishment again.

PS. Don't be surprised to see they ask for minimum 20% on tips when you pay with...

We were craving a Japanese type of dish, but the place a friend recommended was closed till 5. We found this place highly recommended on Google and took a chance. We arrived shortly after they had opened for lunch. Lots of stuff on the menu looked delish, but the table close had a bowl of Ramen that I couldn't resist...so I held back the urge to steal his and ordered my own. My wife wanted tofu and when she went to order, the waitress asked if she had ever tried it extra crispy. My wife said yes and she had a very delicious meal. I dove into the bowl of Ramen which had pork, a boiled egg, imitation lobster maybe , sprouts etc. I couldn't finish it all, but enjoyed every bite. We also had an order of spring rolls that were the lightest crispiest we have ever had. The other customer said he thought the Ramen here was better than any in the Savannah area and I will have to agree. It is not to be missed, but I think all their food would be very good. The waitress was great and the restaurant was decorated nicely ..and very clean. Not too bad to get in and out of with high Pooler traffic, but worth the...

I will get one thing out of the way, if you were basing your review on price/value Wasabi Fusion would get 5 stars. For me I will rate based on comparison to other Japanese/Fusion restaraunts. I've studied Japanese cuisine for approximately 8 years my only complaints are the rice was a little overpowering the actual rice wasn't the star it was shadowed by the vegetables and seasoning (I will add that for Japanese carrots and corn were a interesting choice for vegetables in the rice). I don't know if it was mayonnaise added to the shrimp sauce or if it had not set long enough to chill but shrimp sauce had little to no flavor. And lastly I will add the teriyaki sauce itself needed more sugar or it needed a longer reduction because when plated it coated the chicken well but if you were to take it home with you the sauce turns into a water. Waiter on staff at the time was incredible I would recommend giving it a shot as I stated above price to value there is no restaraunts in a 50 mile radius that...
