I'm not sure what to say about this place other than it was recommended by a funeral home director. I'm not sure if she recommended it because she gets business from this place... or if she was serious about it being a good barbecue place. I didn't think it was very good at all. The service was slow. It's not the waitresses fault, it just took a long time to get the food out. It was also expensive. The barbecue was so so. The coleslaw was disgusting and tasted like a cardboard box smells. The sauce was not very good, actually it was very strange, like it had a lot of vinegar that hadn't been cooked out properly. And there was a sign on the way to the bathroom that said "No Tipping". No explanation on the sign as to what that meant, just "No Tipping". I don't even know what that means if you see that in a restaurant.
You know, there's one thing I can say about how to find a good barbecue place, look for the line of people waiting to get in. And, if you can smell it halfway down the street, before you can even see the building, you might have found a good barbecue place. I became suspicious the minute we walked in and didn't see any people eating barbecue in this barbecue restaurant. It was 10 minutes till noon. Matter of fact, of the total number of people that were there, we out numbered them three to one. I think there were three others people in this restaurant, and two of them followed us in.
So, all I've got to say is there are other barbecue places in town, I'm sure they're better, I would try one of...
Read moreWent for lunch it was pretty busy and this is the first time I visited any dexters, I partially went because of other reviews and the food was not as good as i was hoping for but my standards are pretty high for BBQ I suppose, to me part of a great bbq joint is the sauce. I order the 3 meat plate and had turkey, pulled pork and brisket to which I found the brisket and pork was very good but not quite great however I found the turkey to be on the dry side and lacking the smoked flavor the brisket and pork had.. Now for the sauces.. The vinegar sauce was not good at all imo the vinegar was overpowering and drowned out the rest of the sauce mixture so I went on to the sweet bbq sauce which was not bad but not great either so I moved on to the lousianna hot bbq sauce which imo was the best sauce option available and I would give it a 7 out of ten or 3.5 out of 5.. Not bad food and I will return and see if they can redeem themselves on the turkey and maybe give them another shot with the vinegar sauce aswell becuse I do believe all the sauces are made in house as it should be for a great bbq joint. The free ice cream is a great thing that I havent seen at other bbq places and next time I visit I will be bringing my son to help me finish...
Read moreGreat food, very kind staff. Brisket melts in your mouth. Portions are medium to small. For $16 brisket plate, not even a drink included, the portions should be a lot bigger. For such a great place, clean, fun, great cooks and great staff, it's a shame the owners are over pricing the food and running it into the ground. Sadly, that's how tax write offs work, and unless it is pure greed, I suspect it is a tax write off place. A failing business can get you taxes written off and even some taxes refunded. But hey, if you have the money and want some very good food, this is the place to come, clean, friendly, good music not loud, and easy to get in and out, with a stop light into the...
