I don’t like leaving negative reviews often. But I feel like this experience warrants feedback that will hopefully catch the attention of management.

First off, let’s start with the positives. Our Deck Down Under is a beautiful place with beautiful views of the inter-coastal waterway. The food runner guy was nice and went out of his way to refill our drink one time, “the only time we got asked if we wanted a refill by anyone”. The French fries were good in all our baskets.

Now for the negative feedback. Our waitress, while I’m sure busy, wasn’t attentive at all. She never asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks and only stopped by the table basically to take our order and to bring us our check.

Now let’s talk about the disappointing food quality for the prices charged. We ordered a crab cake dinner, a crab trap sandwich basket, and a sampler basket. Besides the fries, the rest of the food was very bland “lacked any kind of seasoning”, was overcooked, and/or the seafood was mushy.

The clam strips was nothing but breading, the scallops were mushy, the fried fish was tasteless, and the crab cakes unfortunately didn’t even taste like crab- was incredibly dry, and just purée mush to put it mildly. The hush puppies were so burnt/overcooked they couldn’t be eaten.

When our waiter came to take our uneaten/unfinished plates away, she didn’t ask if it our food was okay or if there was anything wrong “since all our meals were only a quarter eaten or less”. Nor did she stay put long enough to allow me to express my disappointment in our meals.

I always pay for my meals, regardless if I enjoyed it or not. So this isn’t a review to try and get anything for free. It’s simply a review to express my disappointment in our food, since I wasn’t given an opportunity to express those concerns in person.

We are local and I don’t believe I will ever be back here again unfortunately; because it is a beautiful place to sit...

Our Deck Down Under | Port Orange, FL We visited with a large group, and the staff politely held our table until the entire party had arrived - a thoughtful detail that set the tone for the evening. Nestled under the Dunlawton Bridge with sweeping views of the Intracoastal Waterway, this spot offers wonderful scenery. Be aware, though: the outdoor deck isn’t air-conditioned, so on hot days it can feel a bit warm.

I ordered the blackened sea scallops and a side of onion rings-both were outstanding. The scallops were perfectly seasoned and tender, while the onion rings were crisp, golden, and flavorful. It was one of the better scallop dishes I’ve had in a while.

The bar features a wide range of beverages, from local drafts and craft beers to cocktails and nonalcoholic options, so there’s something for everyone. The restaurant itself focuses on fresh seafood, ribs, burgers, salads and more . Kids aren’t overlooked either: there’s a robust kids’ menu alongside the adult-friendly seafood offerings.

Service was friendly and accommodating, and the overall atmosphere - casual, family-friendly, with great views made it a memorable visit. I’ll definitely return.

Highlights: • Group seating: Wait until everyone arrives, but timing feels considerate. • Views & ambiance: Waterfront under the bridge; indoor escape if the heat gets to you. • Food: • Blackened scallops were expertly seasoned and cooked just right. • Onion rings were crisp and flavorful. • Bar & menu variety: Strong drink list, diverse seafood-focused menu with options like smoked ribs, fresh fish, and more . • Family-friendly: Full kids menu and casual atmosphere.

Bottom line: A dependable Port Orange favorite with impressive seafood, solid drinks, and a scenic deck. I’m already looking forward to...

YES! Just yes. Stumbled upon this place after a trip to the lighthouse. We were looking for a lowkey environment and high quality food. We sure found it around 2pm on a Monday, plenty of seating. Free .5lb of peel& eat shrimp if your bill is $25+ and you pay in cash. Great start. Ordered at the counter. Full bar, order anything you think up. We sat out on the deck and ordered some clam fritters, mermaid drink, mojitos+ ~$10 a mixed drink and they don’t mess around. Place keeps getting better as the service was attentive and everyone was super friendly and chill. I guess you can imagine I came back several days later to show my little bros the treasure I found. Around Wednesday at 4pm, we pulled up starving. After 4 or so it seems that’s about that time they have a hostess seat you. That’s also when they take away the peel& eat shrimp deal. Barbara was so nice though - she said they just took the sign down but since we saw it, she’ll honor it. If you leave here not full, it’s your fault. We ordered steamed oysters, blackened mahi mahi, scallops, bloody marys, pina coladas, crab legs+. My scallops were a little overdone for my liking but alas. My favorite aspect of this place was the insanely great service and food without the frills. Stop here for a drink, dinner, whatever. You won’t regret. Plenty of parking. When we left on Wednesday approaching dinner time, the place started having a wait so beware of that. Not sure if they take reservations. Thank you Barbara and Our Deck Down Under staff! Y’all have it...
