We came here right before noon on a Sunday. It was busy - completely understandable. The lady gave me about a 20 minute wait time - which was pretty accurate. The inside is super cute and I feel it tries to have a homey feeling. We we're sat in the corner. With two young children, we needed high chairs. The hostess, who sat us immediately asked for our order before we could even look at the menu. We will just quickly ordered waters and the waitress brought over the high chairs immediately with an attitude. My husband nicely said thank you and she just shrugged it off and walked away. Just as we got the kids settled she came back over and asked for our order, we were not ready so we asked please for a few more moments. She came back over and we were ready to go. A few notes on the food we ordered. Meatlovers Bowl - my husband - stated it wasn't memorable. It was lacking flavor - he wouldn't order again. This was cooked with green pepper and onion - which isn't stated on the menu. It only states meat, two eggs, and potatoes and cheese. fruit cups - they were orange melon, pineapple, and one grape. In my opinion - these weren't worth it - even at only $2.90 each. My daughter wouldn't even eat it all and she's fruit obsessed. French toast - my French toast was flavorful and a good size for the price. They use a good thick bread. side of bacon - this was cooked just how I liked it. As for the wait staff (our receipt said Michelle F - our waitress was an older blonde/white haired woman). She seemed to be bothered by us as soon as we were sat down. She was not very friendly at all. She was very curt when she took our order. She did bring out all of our food in a timely manner, but that's more on the kitchen then on her. She brought our Bill over when we weren't even a third of the way into our meal. She did not come back over to refill our drink drinks, the only reason my husband was able to order orange juice was because she was dropping off his food - a bit after mine was delivered. Honestly, it was not a pleasant wait experience and we are truly never anything but kind - we pick up after our young children - etc. For that reason, I'm not sure that we would come back here as there are plenty of other places around here to try that could have much...
Read moreAlong with the great rating, this place is near where I live (off Ridgewood) so because of the rating, I thought it would be awesome. I ended up looking at the breakfast menu before I got there, on my phone, got the Morning Star Breakfast. Sounded good, was pretty cheap ($6). I also got a bloody Mary because that was only $4 along with a cup of water.
I usually order my eggs over medium wherever I go, which usually is slightly firm on the outside and the yolk is somewhat runny but not entirely... or so I thought. To me, it seemed more like they were over easy. I got home fries instead of grits or a slice of tomato (should've gotten the tomato). The home fries weren't very flavorful and were still pretty hard/undercooked. Even the wheat toast I got seemed undercooked since it cooled off so fast and the butter hardly melted. The only thing in my opinion that seemed somewhat edible, was the veggie patty that came with the platter, which I'm sure was probably delivered and previously frozen... obviously... not cooked enough, again.
The bloody mary itself was just ok. Not spicy enough for me, no horseradish (like in most bloody marys) not much in there besides a bunch of ice cubes and a pickle spear, mostly just tomato juice it seemed (I didn't get a buzz at all). I almost felt like getting a bottle of beer to make up for the bloody mary. The pickle spear was good. Crunchy and juicy.
I don't know, maybe the kitchen manager was rushing the cook to get orders out or the cook just always undercooks food no matter what. Either way, I'm glad he/she decided to give me half off the bill, even though I still ended up having to pay for the bloody mary (I didn't say anything about it while I was there, just the food). My waitress did say they can cook a whole new meal for me but I didn't want to wait since I had my mother waiting for me at home.
I also noticed no one working there had a mask on. Apparently co-vid or it's new strain isn't an issue there. 🤔🤷♀️ Sorry but I wear a mask literally every where I go.
Aside from the food, drinks, and pandemic, the staff was pretty nice and the food and drinks were...
Read moreMy wife and I have been dining out for over 50 years.... in all 50 states, and over 20 countries. Never had we previously encountered the inappropriate situation we were faced with today. It's regarding... tipping. When we went to register to pay the bill, person takes the credit card from you, and then she asks you "Would you like to leave a tip?" .... surprised by the question, I replied.... uhhh, "of course". (We typically do 20%).... Then, to my face asks "HOW MUCH TIP WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEAVE?".... I was shocked and dumbfounded by this highly unacceptable face to face question! As anyone who often dines out is aware- it's either... you write it down yourself at the table, or you yourself enter the tip amount into their equipment at the register check out. Eye opener today, to say the least. Unfortunately, the food wasn't so great either. 1st cup coffee was luke warm... We wanted egg sandwiches on croissants- NO CROISSANTS (at 7am opening time.) Homefries quite bland, no onions, seasonings, and...
