First and Last Visit
Today I visited this restaurant for the first time—and definitely the last. Although the host, or manager, whatever she is, warned me about the difference in prices between lunch and dinner menus, I wasn’t expecting that early dinner items to be out. It was around 3:00 PM. After my initial soup and salad, when I went second time to get actual “main course,” I took one very small piece of fish, which happened to be a dinner item, once again, not even on my mind would be that dinner items would be served at 3:00 PM! What followed was completely uncalled for. After one of the waitresses approached to tell me that the fish is a dinner item, she began loudly calling, across the restaurant, the manager, who was across the restaurant. Then the manager came and she started loudly explaining how she told me that there might be some dinner menu items. They literally went on for so long and so loud that I couldn’t even get a chance to tell them that I have neither seen a sign that it was a dinner item nor that I was expecting dinner to be served at 3 PM even though I was made aware and knew that that might be a chance. The whole situation turned into a bizarre, embarrassing spectacle and became so loud that even children started looking and turning around to look what is happening. Feeling embarrassed and annoyed, I just picked up my belongings, paid, and left without even finishing my lunch. Upon entering into my car, I reflected on everything and realized that I did not even finish lunch, and returned to request a refund. The manager/owner without any shame refused to give me a refund but offered for me to go and get the food for to go. I’m not going to go to get any food for to go and to leave restaurant in such a shame because the one piece of fish. When I said I would dispute the charge with my credit card company, she cut me off and started her diatribe, “It’s only $15.92. You are cheap. You need anger management.” I don’t think I should add any other words to this. This experience was not just about poor service—it was about a complete lack of professionalism and basic decency. Businesses like it is are smiling as long as they’re taking your money. However, once something happens, and you express your disagreement or dislike, smiles and welcome disappear. Individuals like these take no accountability, show no courtesy, have no respect. I won’t be returning — and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who expects to be treated with basic decency dignity (particularly if you, God forbid, do something...
Read moreWe have been excited about this new place because they have been missed in the area since WAWA took the place of their old restaurant. That being said, we went for lunch. The inside has been remodeled and is new and nice. Our service which consisted of drink service and plate removal was good. That being said, the food ranged from great to something much less. First, we were excited about the sushi. Their old restaurant actually had a sushi chef working where you could see him and actually ask for something if it was not there. We got there early for lunch and the sushi assortment was good. However, within about half an hour, the sushi bar was depleted and many selections were empty. This was extremely disappointing to say the least. While we prolonged our meal waiting for them to restock the sushi bar, they never did. It was wiped out and stayed that way. We also tried many other selections... just a few bites to taste a variety. Most were very good and seasoned well. Others, not so much. Some of the seafood mixtures looked a bit off. The crab rangoon was excellent though and the mushrooms were great too. Bourbon chicken taste was way off. For only being open a month or so, the reviews should be better than the current 3.5 stars IMO. This is a family owned and run operation and they are pros at making great food experiences in Port Orange. We hope they will work on servicing the sushi bar properly and fine tune some of their recipes. All in all, we are hopeful they will improve and be as good or better than they used to be in the old location. We will try them again in a few weeks and see if they have taken the constructive criticisms to heart and acted upon them for the better. Also, it would be nice to have low sodium soy sauce available on the...
Read moreSo this was our first time here & I must say, the interior is beautiful!! The way everything is set up & the lighting! Makes you feel like you’re in a cave filled with goodies! We went at 4pm on a Tuesday so it wasn’t super packed! We were able to get a booth, my bf, baby & I were comfortable & had enough space to move around. The service gives you a fork&spoon for each guest! Just make sure you take them off your finished plate because they might not have extra as time goes on. The food was delicious! Everything was cooked! Lots of creamy seafood & chicken! The oyster actually tasted fresh! My favorite was the creamy cheese mussels! They have a lot of food to choose from & it seems like the kitchen is always making more food just in time if any tray runs out! Overall it was a great experience! I gave it 4 stars just because of the service. It seemed like the host didn’t believe us when we said our baby is under 2 years old. He said he looked tall & That kind of put a bad taste at the start the experience, & while we were enjoying our meals, I would occasionally look around & see the employees staring at us & other people. I get it if they are just looking if we needed more water or needed finished plates to be taken, but it was everytime I looked up. So I felt as if we were being watched THE WHOLE TIME. Maybe it’s the culture but I didn’t feel comfortable at all. From the host already insinuating we were lying about our sons age to constantly being looked at to see if we’re doing anything wrong…. Idk. If that didn’t happen , I would’ve given 5 stars. But on a good note, the price was great for a full buffet dinner! Luckily the host didn’t charge our baby! At least we...
