Pop's Portage — Restaurant in Portage

As a 47 year old native from Chicago, I grew up eating these particular foods but I am trying to be fair and honest at the same time. I ordered a Chicago style hotdog but they gave me ( a cold or uncooked dog on a regular bun, not a poppy seed bun ie used to make Chicago style hotdogs ) they also put very large jalapenos peppers not ie sports peppers! I also ordered a combo well dipped with sweet peppers, the sweet peppers were in cooked and crunchy, and they were very light on the Italian beef meat, which was dry due to the fact that they used (foam containers, instead of wrapping the food to conceal the juices and temperature) but this is their choice. I am only giving a couple of stars because of how the hotdog was made, which is very important and I also ordered a medium fry which I did not receive. Also, I went through the drive through! But I recommend waiting 5-7 months to see if the food gets better . But I will recommend going to Pop's located 18328 Governors Hwy, Homewood, IL 60430. Listen they doing the Italian beef and sausage like when I was a kid and my mother used to order them in the Chi from a place in our neighborhood SMH! 💯 And the fries are stupid good! I hoping that this new location gets to a level that's at least similar to the location in Crown Point, IN if they can't knock it out the ball park...

For a brand new location you would think they would try to make a good name for themselves but from my experience this location just doesn’t care about customers or quality. The food I have gotten from here has been good but getting what I ordered always seems to be a problem. I have made two attempts at getting food from here as I have never had food from this restaurant before and was interested in trying it when I saw the location was opening. The first time my girlfriend and I drove there and the girl on the microphone was rude and I felt like we were being rushed but again I had never been there and wanted to look at the menu and there is no way to go inside. We then pulled around to pay and clothe food and it looked more like a party was going on instead of work. I get having fun at work but keep it in work don’t make it look like something else to customers. Today I just ordered a DoorDash from there I placed my order and waited for it to get here. I ordered a burger and fries and cheese sticks and I never received my fries! Maybe to much party time at work to correctly complete orders. For now they get 1...

Ugh I went here for the first time and waited 20 minutes in line, which was expected considering it’s new and also it was around 1pm. I ordered a chicken nugget meal which came with medium fries and a medium drink. I also paid extra to get a cup of cheese for my fries, as cheese fries were one of the main reasons I went there. After getting home and going through the bag, there was no fries in the bag. Everything else was there (including the cheese cup), but the lack of fries was a pretty big bummer - and I’m not gonna go back to wait 30 minutes just to get into the parking lot to get my fries. The chicken nuggets were delicious and the employees were friendly - but how do they forget half of a meal?

I’d probably go back because again, the food (that I did get) was delicious - but definitely check the bag...
