I'm a truck driver delivering to a local business, and I was told it would be awhile before I could be seen. No problem.
I ordered a large lasagna pizza from Sal's, told the gentleman I spoke with the name of the business where I was, where I would be parked and my truck make and model. He told me the total and that it would take about half an hour.
45 minutes later the delivery driver calls me from the office of the business, audibly frustrated that I was not there. I had no reason to be in the front office. That's why I gave the order taker my truck info. He even made sure to write it on the receipt. It was a receipt that I took a picture of because the driver wouldn't let me keep it for some odd reason. The driver literally had to go past my truck to get to the office just to call me to get out of my truck and meet him there, saying I'm not there and he needs some cash. (Yeah, just like that.)
Since the pizza was late, it was lukewarm with some cheese and toppings slid off the front edge. Good pizza otherwise.
I still tipped the driver more than 20%, because I used to deliver pizzas myself once upon a time and I understand that sometimes things just go wrong.
All things considered, I won't be doing business with this restaurant ever again even though my work has me out this way...
Read moreMy husband, kids and myself were in town and staying at a hotel near by. We decided to order from here, and it was a horrible mistake. We wanted to try a little bit of everything, and spent almost $90. First off, they forgot to bring us part of our food. We ordered two calzones, and it was almost all dough, with no filling. We paid extra for my husbands to include ranch sauce, and it never came with it in there. We also paid for extra ranch and marinara on the sides, and never got those. We paid $3 for one extra meatball, which is insane. A huge container of spaghetti, with 4 meatballs total. We also ordered ravioli, which came with 5 raviolis, but the container was filled to the brim with meat sauce. There was no option for plates or forks either. We are staying in a hotel so I feel like that's a given to include. My daughter literally ate spaghetti with her fingers. When we called to complain, we were refunded $9 and that was it. We paid the tip on the total amount, and that was not decreased either, seeing the total bill was lowered due to the missing food. We will never be ordering from here again. Huge disappointment, and even bigger...
Read moreSal's is all about "New York style" pizza. No crispy crust here..... Service was excellent and it was easy to see that they're trying very hard to make Sal's one of Portages' go-to pizzas. All tasted fresh and was very New York in style-crust nicely baked. Generous cheese but ordered toppings were medium-topped and not as much. Eating-in, also free refills. "garlic rolls' were mild garlic and not exaggerated enough in garlic flavor to use the herb's name. They were fresh though and just good rolls. Italian theme had us thinkin that their salads would be good as well. Though limited to iceberg lettuce, onions and a few tomatoes all were fresh but these ingredients were all that was combined with Italian dressing and didn't justify the pricey-ness of each salad order. ie. no pepperocinni(sp?), olives, or related others-even croutons- that would have added to a better value for the price. Enjoy the pizza though as what they served up was "new...
