It is typical of what one would expect from a Chinese restaurant. I’ve been to Asian Express multiple times and always had a good experience. The menu items are what is expected for this type of establishment and offers a wide variety of options as well as lunch specials. A majority of customers do take out. Every time I visited and ate in, I was the only customer, but that doesn’t matter in the big picture. The lobby/seating area is always clean and inviting along with classic Asian decor. Their food is always hot and freshly made to order. Some other reviewers mentioned delays in take out. I’ve noticed that once, but it was during peak order time (4-6pm). I would much rather wait for better quality product made to order and not fret over an extra ten minutes- life is too short- and it’s worth the wait. The staff is always very friendly and enjoyable to interact with, and it is great to support a local family business. They recently came out with a Teriyaki Chicken meal that would be comparable to Sarku Chicken one would see in the Mall. I ordered one with double meat and the portion was enormous. It easily fed my wife and I. The egg rolls were crisp and tasty as well. (See photos) Overall it is a nice establishment for a quick meal to stop in or carry out- just remember to give yourself a little extra time when busy and enjoy the goodness of the people and cuisine.

Saturday, October 9th, 2021 Did a little comparison of Portage Chinese restaurants. Ordered a large hot and sour soup from each business. A take out menu is in each photo to identify items. Hands down Asian Express takes 1st in hot and sour soup. Soup is full of flavor and veggies. Asian Express also offers a seafood hot and sour soup also hearty with seafood and veggies. Portage Asian Cuisine's hot and sour is a far 2nd. Although very hearty with veggies they overused a thickening agent in the broth. Cathey Garden's hot and sour soup is a distant 3rd. Soup is mostly broth base with very minimal ingredients. Asian Express is definitely the choice when it comes to Chinese in Portage.

Best Chinese food in Portage. I ordered the chicken fried rice and pork dumplings. My wife chose the orange chicken. It was pretty good. The prices are a little high for the area. The service staff is very friendly and greeted us with a smile. Food was prepared quickly. We'll be back here for more :)

I rarely write reviews, but Asian Express in Portage really deserves a positive one. After years of ordering, they always deliver constant results and great food. They even know me by name, just from calling in a takeout order, impressive! The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. While I’ve tried many dishes on the menu, my favorite is the Mongolian three delights (add bamboo), hot & sour soup (lots of mushrooms, yum) and the crab Rangoon. The shrimp dishes are also great. Like most Asian restaurants in the states, most of the dishes are highly “Americanized”, in the sense that they are generally sweet and savory, etc., but let’s face it, that’s what we like! The dishes have enough spicy heat, which is good because I need that to survive. The sauces are great and you can always taste that yummy rice vinegar sort of zing to compliment the sweet and savory flavors. The veggies are perfect, a result of a wok, heat and good cooks. The “regular” dishes such as the teriyaki chicken is always good- get that with double meat. In my opinion though, the best dishes are the pricier ones or the less ordered items. Even the peanut butter chicken is great. I can’t understand reading the few negative reviews, some people just need something to complain about. Thanks a lot Karen. When you visit this place to eat, do us all a favor and leave them a nice tip, it’s well earned and we all know how Portage goes through restaurants. Let’s keep this one here, ok? Great food, great prices, great people. Will return...

Ordered takeout online, went and picked it up and 3 of the 4 entrees were wrong . Couldn’t go back and talk to them as I didn't realize the issues until I got to work 30 minutes away. We assume they just mixed up someone’s order with ours. Not the end of the world, but frustrated with the experience. We still ended up eating a good majority of it. I’ll likely still give this place a second shot.

My coworker ended up eating one of the wrong entrees which we figured out was Kung Pao Shrimp. She said it was spicy but tasted good.

The orange chicken, which was the only correct one, was great!

The teriyaki chicken came with the wrong side and was a bit mushy.

The other completely wrong entree with figured out was sweet and sour chicken. Hard to judge this one as we don’t typically like sweet and sour. But it was pretty good.

The entrees we did not get were garlic beef and general...
