UPDATE : revisited Cheryl's Diner 4/9/2021 family of 7 is always a big order 😜 WOW Great improvement from our 1st visit. June 2020 Cheryl's diner easy to find, minimal parking, they offer indoor and outdoor seating, handicap parking and access, very pleasant waitresses. So we visited on a NON holiday weekend, due to COVID19 there was a few minute wait, expected👍 our order was taken right away. However it was 45 minutes before food started showing up 😲 one of the grandchild's food was still another 15 minutes away, just 1 🥞 pancake!! Sadly all our hash browns and home fries were COLD, the corned beef hash was not cooked crispy as asked 2x, The toast was wrong, my omelet had raw eggs in sections of it 🤔 not sure how that could happen anyways my poor grandson's pork sausage patty was raw!! We had to go find the waitress to bring this to her attention & then asked for a manager. Yes it was getting busy but no excuse for 45 + minute wait for a family of 7 to receive food without any communication from our waitress. The waitress apologized, I asked the raw food be removed from the bill they exceeded our requests apologized again. I would give Cheryl's Diner a second chance if traveling back through the area. I believe there intentions were good. Perhaps it was just a COVID19 issue 😊

When your hungry go some where else. My brother and I went to lake Isabella and found this place because we were hungry, it was the first place we came across. Cheryl's Diner....... First off, the waiters looked like they were doing their jobs, but when it came down to it, looks can be deceiving. We ordered 2 biscuits with gravy, a side of hash browns, and a side of bacon. We stand by, for about 20 minutes, for warming up a biscuit in the microwave and pouring hot gravy on them that was a long time. I also, didn't get my bacon because they forgot to make it. The bacon did come out rather quick, which makes me think........Our 2 biscuits and gravy turned out to be one biscuit broke in half, and also microwaved. With that said the food was not good at all, some not even edible. Below is the back end, of the oil slick that was drained out of the plate of hashbrowns. I apologize in advance for not getting all of the small stream of oil that collected the bottom of the plate, almost submerging the hashbrowns. But if you look you can see the clear pool of oil on the napkin. Do not go here, unless you want to get no service and bad food.

Cheryl’s always offers terrific food with exceptional service — and I’m an enormous fan of the classic American small-town diner atmosphere. As someone who has prolific experience with “nowhere-town diner” menus, I can say that my expectations aren’t high; many locations will offer a wider selection than they’re capable of handling, or simply phone-it-in on what little they *do* offer citing little reason to do better, given their remote location. Either way, the end result is the same: mediocre or bad food. I am extraordinarily happy to say I have yet to have even a lackluster experience with Cheryl’s. The food never disappoints, and I always try to have something different with every visit — a change is as good as a rest! I definitely recommend the Reuben sandwich, and their Turkey-Bacon Club is spectacular, as well. Please give Cheryl’s a chance!

We have eaten here in the past and have enjoyed the food and the staff. However, we were there recently and our experience with one employee was not very pleasant.

We walked up to the counter and asked if we could sit in a booth that we noticed was empty, she informed us that the table hadn't been wiped down, we said we didn't mind if it was ok with her. She rolled her eyes and said "if you want to" followed by a big sigh.

So we went and sat and we waited, and waited and waited, she never came over with menus, table settings and did not once acknowledge that we were even there. We watched as she cleared several other tables of people that left after we sat down and we watched her as she chatted with a co worker, but still did not come over to our table. We decided to leave, and one of our party noticed as we left that she was waving to us saying bye bye to us with a big smile on her face. I spoke to another business owner about our experience, and was informed that the young ladies name is Taylor.

I am writing this to hopefully help the young lady with her customer service skills. I was in customer service for many years, and if I had acted like that I would have been fired!

We were polite to the young woman, so I'm not sure why she felt she needed to punish us. Hopefully, she was just having a bad day and this is not the normal customer service.

We have been going to Kernville once a year for the last 14 years, and try to eat at this location at least once during our stay there.

Just know Taylor, if you had asked us to wait until you could wipe the table off, we would have been very happy to wait...

I never trust over-investing, when I come to any business for my 1st time. Unless I purchase products that I know of. When I came to 'Cheryl's Diner' --- as I & a friend agreed to stop there -- we made separate orders. I looked for the cheapest order; as it took me much time -- while reading the specs of the items. I found of what I decided on, without the employee coming to my table for my first time. because the 'diner' being with too much traffic. My friend was asked for placing the first order. I ordered the cheapest burger. My friend was happy with the result of his order. The burger I had ordered: I got the buns toasted as I requested. The patty was cooked as I requested. But I found of the cooking, AFTER the first bite. This be lukewarm, NOT HOT FOOD. (I rate lukewarm, via how one rates the temp of water). THAT'S BAD, FOR A BURGER PATTY. NO OFFER to reheat it; just ready to walk away. When I made my short comment about the patty -- I only received a fake reply. Once Mandy turned around, she had a face of expressing: I just clock in, clock out. As so long I get my paycheck, that's all that matters. About my received burger: I just ate it; I never said anything. As I knew 'Cheryl's Diner would not care. A business like this has too much traffic; too much customer request. 'Cheryl's Diner CAN afford to lose customers. I and my friend just stopped there, in the same way as a car owner stops seeing a gas station along the way. The french fries and cole slaw beat the (more...

If you are Spanish-speaking, Hispanic, or Latino/a, make sure you are not helped by LORI!!! I went in with my family, a party of 10. I do not know if we were just not the server’s cup of tea or if LORI is just racist. From the beginning, she was so rude. We went in there to have a good time and with the best spirits, so I don’t understand why she felt the need to be rude.

First off, she was very short with us, and when we asked her questions, she would answer with “it’s in the menu” or she would just answer with a question, trying to make us feel dumb. We waited for an hour for our food, meanwhile, three other tables that got there after us got their food first! Once we got our food, the country-fried steak was cold and thick and was not chewable. I took two bites out of the steak and complained right away. I asked her politely to take it off the check, and instead, she asked for the plate back and took it to the kitchen without giving any explanation. When she came back, she said that she was able to cut right through it and that she wouldn’t remove the entrees. After complaining further, she said she would remove 5% off the entrees, and she didn’t even have the decency to give us our check; she asked one of the hosts to bring it to us.

From the beginning, she was against us and gave us a bad experience at the restaurant. I won’t ever be going back due to...
