Angelina's is very inviting, you walk in & feel as if you have been transported to Greece. The ambiance definitely set the mood for eating Gyros! The meat smelled so good & I was immediately greeted by everyone. They were busy but still took the time to welcome me as if I knew them or as if I was walking into my family's house. The vibes were happy & full of life! The service was fast too! I was super impressed! I had the Chicken Gyro to start. Every bite of my Gyro was perfectly balanced & packed with flavor! The combination of the meat, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes & feta topped with a delicious tzatziki sauce was perfection! I was stuffed after eating half of it but I couldn't stop eating it as it was so tasty. I also got some of the baklava & you could tell a lot of love was put into this delicate dessert. The baklava was rich & sweet! I fell in love with the buttery layers of cinnamon, honey throughout the phyllo dough which was light & flakey with a nice soft chewy crunch! If you love sweets like me, you will love this sweet treat. I am so impressed with Angelina's, I had to share as it was seriously the best Gyro I have ever eaten throughout my travels. I will definitely...
Read moreAfter a very exhausting walk I just about gave up on finding food in my price range as everywhere I tried to stop for lunch was $20-$30+. I happened to meet one of the staff outside Angelina's and he was super friendly. I told him I wasn't sure what kind of food I wanted, so I was just looking and would come back later. Well, after checking out another spot and seeing those high prices I turned right around and went back to Angelina's.
The staff member greeted me with open arms and handed me a menu. I decided to get their falafel bowl with their garlic hummus. It took a few minutes to cook, but was worth it as the ingredients were fresh and delicious.
The falafel was topped with hummus, tzaiki, feta, tomatoes, olives, and cucumber. Every bite was so tasty and it made amazing leftovers.
Minus one star for the size of the bowl. Based on the reviews, price, and description, I was expecting a little more size wise. But, the quality of the food was on point. I was hoping to come back during my visit and get a falafel wrap, but they were...
Read moreThe overall quality and flavor was good, I'm from a town very close to Tarpon Springs, FL. Which is where you will find the most authentic Greek cuisine short of flying to Greece it's self. I would say its on par with some of the places there, but my biggest complaint was the price/portion ratio. I opted for the 'yacht' which was the bigger of the two bowls, and quite honestly felt a little ripped off. I would rather pay an extra $2-3 to ensure I got a big plate of food vs what I got. I was left hungry after and needing more. With that being said, operating downtown is very costly I'm sure. I tend to shy away from ordering food from places downtown for this very reason. Most shops down there are forced to skimp on toppings/portions to make the most money possible to pay insane overheads. I get it. I would love to see this place over on the east side, in a friendly neighborhood doing their thing with larger and or cheaper portions. They would kill it. Overall, good food but won't order again unless the portions...
