On my recent, first trip to Portland, my sister told me I just HAD to eat at this spot. I had been staying with a few, sweet, gentle vegans and was in desperate need of MEAT!
Now, I'm not used to standing in the near freezing cold, both ordering and waiting for my food but, I was willing to get strange for a little bit of grease and melted cheese.
Apparently, there once was a makeshift patio with tables and an awning of sorts prior to us having gone. Unfortunately, there were just a few picnic benches when we went. So, no real protection from the cold. But, you're eating at a food truck so, you've got to get with the program!
Now, I have a tenuous grasp on the English language so, ordering in Spanish was going to be a no-go for me. The menu was in a mix of Spanish and English, with pictures! I really liked those yummy pictures. Now, these folks deal with non-Spanish speakers all the time and were prepared to listen to me painfully eke out my order. However, my generous sister took pitty on me and relayed my order to them.
My wife and I ordered what turned out to be a humongous burrito, a dish of loaded fries and an amazing cup of hot consomé. The portions were massive and the food was hot, fresh and tasted unbelievably good. Everything had an authentic taste and for being located in Portland, the prices were on point!
The truck is located in a well lit parking lot with plenty of parking. The location is handicap friendly in that one could easily get a motorized scooter or wheelchair into the area. You're given one of those little alert devices to let you know when your delicious meal is ready too!
All in all, it was my favorite meal that I had the pleasure of eating while in Portland. Upon visiting again I'll be making at least one stop at Birrieria! Please go treat yourself and support a...
Read moreCalled in an hour before the advertised closing time online(8:30). During that phone call the gentleman who answered let me know that they were closing in 10 minutes. I only live 5 minutes away and I asked FOR PERMISSION to order a simple bean and cheese burrito. They told me that if I could be here before 10 minutes that it would be ready. I showed up and to my surprise they had a small line of clients lining up. When I got to the front of the line I politely asked at what time they closed and the person that was there told me that they closed at 8:30 (the guy on the phone earlier lied). I did not push it further and just asked for my burrito and I promise you that it was completely cold, like, just got out of the fridge cold. I asked them politely to remake since the cheese was not melted, the tortilla cold, and the beans almost frozen. They told me know that I would have to buy another burrito. I did not argue any further and left with their pitiful excuse of a burrito. Will never give this place my money. Better off going...
Read moreCame here last night and waited at least 15 minutes for someone to come to the window (yes I rang the bell twice) the cashiers were then very rude and acted like me ordering was a huge inconvenience even though I was literally the only person there at dinner time on a Saturday.
This is my third time coming and receiving awful service I thought it was just that they were busy the other times but it felt very pointed that they didn’t want me there and I’m beginning to think it’s because I’m gay. Everything I ordered was followed with them looking at me like I’m an idiot even though I’m ordering things exactly how they’re written on the menu.
After waiting 15 minutes for service, my food was ready in less than 3 and both me and my partner have been feeling so so sick this morning. The beans on the taco plate were straight up rancid, the consume was freezing and my burrito was practically inedible. It feels like they gave me food borne illness because they were too bothered to make fresh food or they don’t like that I’m gay....
