Just came back from the Portland, Tx DQ! It's such a nice store! But the wait-staff!? Where has the Texas Hospitality, Personality, Humor, Dignity, Honor, or Respect gone!?
They have a menu board on the counter set like a picture frame. I accidentally knocked it over! As a result, I knocked a number of their order number stands over! The girl's reaction was like 'Oh, my gosh!' She had the attude with it! And, like a glance over to possibly a 'Friend' looking at her! Like did you see what a mess this old lady did? I apologized for knocking them over, but it didn't seem to make a difference as I helped to stand them up again!
I placed my order, making a decision without any help from her! No salesmanship from these kids in fast-food establishments! Not to mention how unfriendly she was!
So. Standing close to the counter while waiting for my order I was asked by another, if she could help me, I said no, just waiting on my order! I saw another girl bagging an order; I asked if that was order #32, she answered that it wasn't and I said okay! A third girl came up assuming I was rushing my order I guess! She told me all of our food is made fresh to order and it takes time to cook it! I told her, yes, ma'am I know how Dairy Queen works! Y'all usually give me way too much ketchup and I was trying to catch her before she put it in the bag!' She said well we don't know what you ordered ( like condoning giving so much ketchup!) She told me I'm not trying to give you a bad time! I said 'no, you didn't but she (the other girl) did! Attitude is what I was given! I only ordered a Double Meat Belt-buster, Jr Combo!
Dairy Queen was my very first job! My boss taught us the customer is always right! In other words; spoil the customer! You want to create customers! You spoil them, they'll come back! Therefore, you've created a (returning) customer! Kids are not taught to care anymore! "When's my break? When do I take lunch? What time do I get off!" "I'm tired!" I say you' re too young to be tired!
Many Texas Businesses and others across our country have been built on sush attributes of kindness and compassion for others! One day this will no longer exists!
I still work in food service and I see this everywhere! It's ashame!
We consider this location our "DQ" ! We have never really had any issues before, and we will return again! .. But it's certainly not because of the wait-staff, but for a Texas Tradition!
Thank you for letting me vent and I give this location 5 Stars for their products, but a half of a star for their service! Service means a lot! Disgruntled customers can walk out on an order and go elsewhere! So what if you lose a little product! But they can also carry tales of bad experiences! TRUE Hospitality is an invitation! And, without it... it can be...
Read moreSo here I am, taking lunch at about 3pm because work kept us busy. 2 coworkers ahead of me, the line finally moves to me next. 2nd employee goes to a 2nd register and proceeds to say "I can help the next in line." Some time passes between this and yet another employee talking amongst themselves about said register to then finally both walk away from it, leaving me there waiting on who knows what. Meanwhile, in my previous line to which I would be next multiple patrons get their food orders taken, except for the Spanish speaking couple who had to get their phone out and use a translator because they couldn't understand what the couple was saying. I finally have an employee ask me how big my order is. My order? What order? To which I replied "I've been waiting to place my order. They told me they could help next in line and here I am, still waiting." Multiple people now have placed orders including the couple. My coworkers are eating already at this point. They then finally tell me "Oh, that register is stuck in training mode" before walking off. WTF... Someone finally comes by and tells the trainee to go take my order. No apologies. No sorry for the wait. Not a damn thing. Except, of course their terrible service. If you're gonna tell someone you can help them and then you can't, explain that then. Don't just leave them hanging while everyone else gets taken care of. Use some manners. Apologize for the wait or what have you. Never just up and walk away from your patrons. I used to work customer service before working at plants these last 10 years, but I still know how customer service works, as do most people with any common sense or courtesy....
Read moreOrdinarily I would not write a review... But just getting home from Dairy Queen, I thought I would. Upon entering, the lobby was not crowded but steady busy, AFTER placing our order a very large group had came in and placed their order. We ordered simply a hot dog and a fish sandwhich. After 38 minutes of waiting our food was brought to us and the amount of fries was disappointing as there were probably about 12-15 fries in my basket and a reasonable amount on my husbands plate. I salted and peppered and as I bit one they were cold, as if they were sitting in the basket for 38 minutes. They corrected this and when I opened my fish sandwhich it was burnt. I brought this to the counter and asked for a non-burnt sandwhich only to be met with "our fryers are messing up" and was brought not only another burnt fish sandwhich but the piece of fish was so small that it could have passed for a fish finger. It covered not quite half of the bun of which I removed the excess bread and was left with a sandwhich about 1.5 inches wide and the width of the bun. I ate it as by this time I was hungry and figured that I was not going to get a decent meal either way. In conclusion, I will say only this... Their TACOS are generally fantastic (hence the 2 stars) Do Better Portland...
