As a weathered and veteran time traveler myself, imagine my surprise when I discovered right there in Portland at the airport a hidden tardis. Imagine my shock! I had no idea that there were Dutch Brothers where you could sit down, where the inside was larger than the outside, where you could drink magic brews and spin off into other times and dimensions!
I felt as if one of my regular Dutch Brothers had just unfolded itself into a time capsule, a house of illusion, a respite from the maddening crowd. It felt so strange to be on the inside looking out instead of being on the outside looking in.
Yes, I know it is a chain and in general I do not like chains as link by link they chain the people and crush individuality. Dutch Brothers however is one of my exceptions. Everywhere I have gone the staff have been kind, helpful, and respectful of my old bones. As I said before, I donât know who does their hiring, I donât know where they find all these friendly outgoing young people, but they do.
Iâm sure this is not an easy site to work at. More cleaning, more people in a hurry, and maybe not always in the best of moods. But the drinks are good and the process honed down into a quick efficient machine.
I can see there are other reviews that are more mixed than mine, I think perhaps the feng shui of the place might be a little off. There are disturbances in the ether, dark movements beyond the curtain. All the more reason to find a sanctuary Where you can close out the demons behind you and sit down for a cup of coffee.
Honestly, I donât go very many places more than once and I certainly donât move from store to store within a chain gathering information like a child finding seashells along the ocean shore. But Dutch Brothers is a little different, and I think that perhaps I will eventually go to every one of them. So far I have not had a bad experience.
This inside twist however was a new one on me, discovering that the once solid Dutch Brothers had been hollowed out and expanded like a cave in the rock in the middle of a storm.
Other coffee shops might have more character, maybe even better drinks. I love the eclectic, the strange, the homespun, but sometimes what one is looking for is easy reliability. Something that doesnât require a lot of effort or investment. We get tired of the new and the interesting, the excessive correctness even though we may agree. Sometimes itâs just all too much, and then I go to...
Read moreIf I could give this Dutch bros a 0 I would, last night after celebrating Easter with family we all decided to go to Dutch to get coffee and Red Bulls this being the only one open we drove 20 minutes to get there, me having a car with 4 people in it and my husband In the other car with 3 people in it we got our drinks in the drive threw and parked our cars in the parking lot. Me and my husband own a car dealership and both have bmw M3. When I tell you we were just all standing out side of the car drinking our drinks for about 10 minutes not being a disturbance at all with the cars off not playing music or anything not being loud nothing , we have 5 cop cars block us in and surround us not knowing what was going on a Dutch worker came out and she was talking to a cop. There were about 8 cops surrounding us all harassing us saying they were going to arrest us, when we did absolutely nothing. Me and my husband both being in our 30s with our younger siblings with us were being threatened to be put in handcuffs. And that we had minutes to get off of the property and leave mind you we were doing absolutely nothing wrong and just purchased $50 worth of drinks Just standing outside drinking them, we were not the only people in the parking lot. There was a ton of people around, this is a busy location since it is located near the Portland airport and open 247 . I am still in complete shock about the situation, we couldn't even defend our selfs the cops were literally ready to arrest us for I'm not even sure what. I guess you're not allowed to own a nice car and go to get coffee without being threatened and harassed. Never will I go there again. The customer service is horrible as well any Dutch I ever go to the workers are always super happy and nice & give off good vibes the people working here just seem super moody and not friendly at all. I'm not a person to leave a review but...
Read moreI really do try to hold myself back from complaining but this was THE ABSOLUTE WORST service. I went to Dutch a little past 12:30am 06/28/2020. I ordered my rebels HAND blended, I got back drinks NOT hand blended. I didnât say anything. I had also ordered a LARGE tea NO ICE, I got back a SMALL DRINK W ICE. I thought I would say something about the tea at least. She went back & handed me the 16oz from the small drink without the ice in the large, almost-empty 32oz cup it seemed like, barely half full. I was in disbelief & I tried not to ask anything at all about the tea but they had already messed up my order, so I thought I would ask for 1 out of 3 rebels to be hand blended. Then this blond lady came up and with all the sass possible said ânext time you want something a certain way, make sure you order it correctlyâ. I told her that I had asked for my drinks correctly, I even told her that I had to order my drink TWO TIMES because the lady taking the order wasnât getting the hang of it. At some point she even wanted to charge me $5 more. Then at that point I really didnât care to ask why my tea was barely half way full and she said âACTUALLY that is the way we make themâ barely allowing me to explain that other Dutch shops give me at least a bit more. She blamed all the other stores and said that she will be in contact with the them and let them know how to do things correctly. Let me tell you I have been to almost all shops in Portland, so I almost found it ridiculous. Not only that but there was a car behind me, yelling out her window, telling me to hurry up. The amazing, lady at the front window I think found it funny or something but she was smiling at her????? WHATT TYPE OF...
