The hotel itself seemed pretty nice, though the room was very dim in the front area. The bedroom had ample sunlight, but it didn't travel far enough into the first room. We attended a wedding in their event hall, and it was beautiful. However looks are very deceiving. It went downhill from just one staff on hand. The bartenders had done nothing wrong so I can't say anything about them, however as they started to bring out the courses for the dinner I noticed our server was terrible. Seeing a red haired slightly elderly lady with glasses, I was taught to respect anyone older. The table had soda and water poured into each glass, but no ice bucket. When we asked for ice, she abruptly told us to go ask the bar staff and that she had no control over it. We brushed it aside and continued the night with no ice as we saw the barstaff swamped with people waiting for libations. The lady came back to put more food the table, and so I offered to help her with placing it down so she didn't have to overreach herself. She took that as an opportunity and I was delegated to put down every plate that came out. She came to our table three times to see if our party was done with the soup, and I reluctantly told her we were finished just to stop her from hovering over it. By this time we had no water and she never offered any refills. As the last two courses came out and she saw our table was still full of food she asked us whether anyone was still eating, however the tone implied that she was tired of bringing out plates if we weren't going to finish them. She definitely made it known that she didn't want to help us with anything. One of the table guests had a son who threw up. We cleaned as much as possible with the tablecloths on hand, and the mother ran out to clean up the child and as she passed our server the mother asked the server "I'm sorry but do you mind taking these clothes away for me?" to which the server replied "yes, I do mind." and proceeded to walk away without taking care of the mess. In short, the place looked great, but one horrible unfriendly staff member killed our mood and expectations of such a hotel. Unfortunately I am not able to recommend this place to anyone...
Read moreWe arrived after midnight on July 1st to our original hotel of the Holiday Inn airport. We were told that there were no rooms left even though this reservation was booked in advance. They said they would comp the room for our entire 3 night stay at the Embassy Suites Airport nearby. I also confirmed this with the woman who checked us in at the embassy. I mean, it wouldn’t make sense to go from one hotel to another and then back, right? On day two after a full day of being out and about, we returned to our room to find all of our belongings missing. The embassy suites said that the holiday inn only paid for one night of stay when we had booked three. Not only did they charge our card almost $300, NOT ONE person contacted us to let us know what was going on. The lady at the front desk said they had been calling us all day but when I asked what number, she said she didn’t have that information. It was a lie because I had ZERO missed calls or emails from them. Not to mention this was all happening on my boyfriend’s birthday. I had also paid $42 for parking after essentially being kicked out and told we would have to take it up with their parking service whom I have yet to hear from. There were several people who were working the front desk and not one was a manager. They all stared or made faces but none of them intervened to help make the situation right. Not one person has called or emailed me to rectify the issue since then and it has been days since we stayed there. This was a two hour ordeal between both hotels and having to literally pack our belongings in the lobby of embassy suites. They had just put all of our stuff in a cart. Like I said, this was on my boyfriend’s birthday and we could not make it to our dinner reservation because we were trying to resolve this issue. I would not stay here even if it was for free. Absolute horrible customer service and lack of empathy from all who were involved. Oh and it’s now July 12th and I still have not been refunded...
Read moreWow I've never stayed in a hotel that has such abysmal service. After having a flight cancelled and needing to stay another night, our travel arranger booked this hotel. I called the hotel to have them send the airport shuttle. 35 minutes later I was still waiting. I called the hotel twice more and each time they said they'd reach out to the driver. Other hotel shuttles came and went four times before theirs arrived. When they finally came and took me to the hotel, I saw that it was literally a 5 minute drive to the hotel.
Now, if you're tax exempt good luck! I was here on a work trip for a federal agency. I gave them my government ID, that wasn't enough. They asked for my travel orders. I don't work for the state department but I sent them my travel confirmation from my government email address issued by our federal travel arranger. All was well until I saw they immediately charged my card with taxes.
I spoke to Rachel, the supervisor at the front desk as there was no manager on duty. She said that there is a list of items they need to prove I was here for government travel. She showed me the list and I asked if she needed every item on there, one of which was a government ID. She said no, but then told me that she wasn't sure which I would need to provide and that I need to talk to the accountant in the morning. Sure, I'll add that to my list of things to do when I'm trying to fly out in the morning.
To add icing to the cake, after offering anything else I could provide to prove my tax exempt status and giving her my business card (one of the pieces of proof on the list if you can believe it) and my tax exempt form, she actually had security standing by. But there was literally a shooting here two weeks ago... See photos for the unrepaired bullet holes in the nonfunctional elevator.
Ridiculous and overall incredibly rude to someone here for work who got stranded in this city. It's actually more difficult to get tax exemption applied than it is to...
