According to Google, Waters Bar & Grill is open from 11:00am to 10:00pm on Wednesday. So I made the trip there. I went to the location, which is inside the hotel, and it appeared closed, although someone was setting up tables, so I asked about it. She said it was closed until 5:00pm. I let her know they need to update their opening times and showed her the google information. "Oh, well the bar is open and they have pretty much the same menu". She pointed to the bar, which was across the building. So, I went over there. A couple people were sitting in tables, otherwise, it was empty. I was looking at the menu posted, which is the photo attached. A guy was bussing a table, so I asked him if I just sit anywhere. He said to take a menu and order, "then we'll worry about seating". I already knew what I wanted as it was a special that only have on Wednesdays, which it was, but I was going to do as he directed me to do. In looking at the menus by the bar, I noticed there seemed to be two different ones, so I said, "looks like there are two different ones". He seemed annoyed that I was asking and asked me if I was part of a group, which I wasn't, so he told me which of the two I could order from. Turns out, it is only a few things that are offered. When I tried to order what I came for and what was on the menu in the front - "The full menu is available after 5:00pm" I was told. So, just know that there are two areas, one is the grill open after 5:00pm where you can order what is on the menu, the other, a different location, is the bar, which has a limited menu. My experience was that they could not care less. I went elsewhere.

We were in Portland for few days and we had dinner @Water bar & Grill. It’s a restaurant within Embassy Suites. We were only there for dinner. Friendly and professional staff. Great service. The location is ideal, with lots to do. Portland international airport is less than a mile and there’s a vast number of restaurants and hotels in this area. The food was great and a bit pricey. We had the lobster Mac n cheese , which was delicious. The chunks of lobster could have been cut smaller for my taste but It was good. Parking was for a fee, indicated by the mins. Since we’re not planning to be there long, we parked near by instead. Unsure if that’s different for their guests. The restaurant area was beautiful with a nice view of water display.

You wouldn't necessarily expect to find a decent meal in your everyday hotel lobby, but you'd be wrong with Waters Bar and Grill. An unexpected Thanksgiving on the fly found us here (one of the few places still open and accepting customers), and we were pleasantly surprised. The de rigeur Thanksgiving dinner was what you'd expect, albeit with portions generous enough to feed at least two or three people. I opted for the Caesar salad with grilled salmon, and while a tad on the salty side, it did not disappoint. Again, generous portions. What sets Waters aside is the cheery and attentive staff -- imagine: a restaurant where people seem to be enjoying their jobs. The "can-do" spirit will bring us back.
