My wife and I were really excited to try Electrica and we got really excited to see they had matcha (which is what we were craving), so we didn't mind driving 20 minutes to their location.
Parking was fine, it was cool inside of the coffee shop and there werenât too many people which was chill. We ordered the sweetcorn matcha and the strawberry matcha. The matcha in the sweetcorn matcha was so faint you could barely taste it. My wife got the strawberry matcha which was decent.
The barista/cashier on the other hand left a nasty taste in our mouths. It was our 1st time there, and when my wife asked if she could omit the milk from her matcha, the lady scoffed, rolled her eyes, and said âI guessâ. She didnât even look like she cared, or remotely even liked her job. I donât know what her issue was, but we did not do anything to warrant such a reaction. She proceeded to be fake nice to me and kept being cold and rude to my wife for no reason.
We ended up ordering the hojicha gelato to go and apologized as we wanted to return the spoon we didnât need since we weren't dining in, and she visibly seemed frustrated by that. She didnât say anything and just rolled her eyes at my wife and walked away. Sorry weâre not an old white creep trying to flirt with you (whom you were sooo nice to, before we came up and received a totally different experience).
We tipped 20% to show respect and support, and her attitude got nastier. In a city full of amazing cafes and restaurants, thatâs the setting youâre creating and the image youâre projecting to your real customers who are trying to give you business? Unprofessional, and not giving a damn? In a city/state where we are literally known globally for our kindness!? My wife just asked for no milk, and youâre gonna come at us with some attitude??? Youâre repping a âdopeâ and âtrendyâ coffee shop like that?
We genuinely want to give this place another chance, but after this experience I don't think we will. That employee needs an attitude check. Customer...
Read moreExceptional coffee & 'pastry cuisine' offered by Electrica! While appearing as though simply an amenity to Schoolhouse Electric; their cohesive atmosphere, as well as their wonderful baristas crown the cafÊ as a venue in itself. Really enjoyed the continuum of warehouse style w/ both the light wood & elegant lighting- I'd consider this a serene location for study or meeting others, especially w/ the (apparently!) reduced popularity during the afternoon.
It's a bit removed from the city centre, but likely benefits from this w/ abundant parking & quiet surroundings :-)
If it's worth mentioning my private experience; I entered after making a minor pilgrimage across the commercial area they're located in, nearing close, I felt a bit tenuous over how long I could remain. Yet, despite this, I were so incredibly welcomed & had not only a divine mocha, but an inviting conversation w/ Michelle, the active barista- if I've spelled her name properly, haha (omit where necessary..)
She managed to facilitate a coffee-based memory, whilst simultaneously cultivating a uniquely natural dialog, even kindly maintained while an exodus of others began nearing close. Tragic may it be, I'm only visiting Portland briefly, but I'd certainly be a candidate for entering this cafĂŠ as a routine regular- and, highly recommend any to visit this...
Read moreThe barista was really mean to my sister and I, we were shocked and it was very awkward. We were also just so confused about it?! I thought maybe she had mistaken us for someone else that sheâs had a past issue with??âŚbecause she was being so nice to the other customers! I almost wanted to ask her if there was some kind of misunderstanding?! It was very bizarre and uncomfortable, and you could tell she was even more upset when we didnât tip her⌠because we heard her talking badly about us and our lack of tip to the next person in line (who surely also heard her being mean to us. And by the way⌠I only asked for a half caf latte and then asked what the donut types were. Totally normal interactions on our side)âŚ.but Iâve never in my life had someone be so mean to me. I always tip. Even for the worst service. But I was genuinely afraid of her after that, and Iâm sorry⌠but no.
That was our first time in there and Iâm visiting from overseas. It was my last day with my sister and this really put a damper on things! Iâm still confused as to what happened honestly. If youâre reading this WHAT HAPPENED!! DID WE DO SOMETHING đ ?! Iâm forever stumped. Weâre sorry?!! Idk lol
Also if weâre going there, my latte wasnât good anyway.
But 10/10 for atmosphere because the Schoolhouse...
