I live a few blocks from here and have tried to go through the drive-thru 4 times. This is without question, the worst fast food establishment I have ever seen. I honestly couldn't imagine a more useless space in Portland. Anyone who is unsure if we should automate fast food establishments should go to this Jack-in-the-Box... they will be convinced. Let's recap
My first visit I arrived at 1030. Restaurant was closed. Lights were out. It happens no big deal.
Second time I went it was open and they got one of the two burger orders wrong and forgot the tacos.
Third time I waited in line and when I got to order (it was between 30-45 minutes before closing time) they said they decided to close for the day and didn't want to make any food. Typically when a fast food place does this, they'll put a cone out in the drive-thru line so people know. But not this Jack and the Box... they were happy to have people wait 10 minutes only to be told they didn't feel like making any more food (not that they were out or a pipe broke or something... they just decided to end early and took no effort to let people know).
4th time I went was in the middle of the day. Lights are on. People are in the restaurant. Looking good. Pull up to the drive-thru order board and no one is speaking. Wait a few minutes and pull forward to the window. No one is at the window. I park and try to go in since there's people in there. The door is locked and I was told "we're taking a break. We don't know when we'll open again" and the staff was just sitting around in a locked Jack-in-the-Box.
I get people are only going to work as hard as you pay them and in fast food that probably isn't much, but where is the manager saying "the store needs to be open". Is there not regional managers who occasionally stop by and find it's randomly closed all the time despite the fact there are people inside. A situation like this isn't just this Jack in the Box, because if it was they'd close the store since there's no way this place is making...
Read moreI ordered at 11:50-11:55pm. I waited for the status to change from received order to preparing your food and then on its way. And kept wanting. By 12:25 - over half an hour later- it was still saying received order. I cancelled thinking that there must have been a technical glitch or something with the order that didn't get through all the way or complete. I was planning on reordering and tried to do so. However the funds were taken off my card even though it had never even started being prepared! And the cancellation message said it would be up to 5 days to get it back. What?!? Follow up below* So ....Yes it took the full 5 days before the refund was processed back to me. After a couple months I decided to give them another try and place another order through the Jack in the Box app but the same exact situation happened where the order never was delivered. I called. Again they stated they had not received the order but my card was charged. And yet again even though no order was even made by the restaurant at all I still had to wait 5 full days to get my refund afterwards. I have had other businesses provide refunds if needed on rare occasions and have never had one take as long as this place. The most I've ever had to wait with another company was 3 days and and often it doesn't take anywhere near that long. But for some reason even though the order was never even even made it takes 5 days to get your money back for this company. Needless to say I will never be placing an order at this...

Last time we came through the drive thru, the customer service was terrible, the employee taking orders at the intercom literally had zero manners and the guy at the window (different voice) was just downright rude and very short with us, and gave me a dirty look when I asked for Ranch for my chicken strips. Now today, for the 3rd time in the last month now, I drive here instead of going 4 miles north to a better Jack, only to find nobody answering at the intercom, and open sign/ lights are all off! Its only 8:15 PM and your website says this location drive thru is open until 1am. Very inconsiderate of customers time and gas!
For management not to at least put a sign on the intercom or the drive thru, or update your business hours online so that people like me don't waste my expensive gas and my time driving here for nothing is just irresponsible, and ridiculously rude! I will never again give this location my time or my hard earned money. Seriously Jack in the box Owner: you can respond with your copied & pasted message to all the reviews you want, if you continuously provide poor customer service, ignore customer complaints, and concerns and don't start training your employees better, and actually appreciating your customers, And continue to do nothing to improve this location, you might as well just say goodbye to your business now because if the reviews aren't enough to wake you up, nothing will!! I for one will not be back...
