Everest curry corner and Discount mini mart — Restaurant in Portland

What a welcome addition to the neighborhood!! Family-owned, very friendly people, and the food is WOW. What a treat to have a Nepalese spot walking distance from us. Our house ordered the chicken curry, samosa's, and lamb biryani. The chicken was soooo tender and perfectly cooked and the curry had so much flavor, absolutely delicious! Lamb wasn't gamey (which is why I don't usually order lamb or goat but they did a great job), and the biryani had such a unique flavor from Indian biryani and was so good. My roommate said "this is so good!" about 20x throughout our meal.

My only critique is that I wish that it was spicier, but that's my fault since I didn't ask, so next time I will ask for more spice! I'm so excited to try their momo's next! I've heard great things about Nepalese momo's (dumplings).

Please do yourself a favor and order food from this place. You will be so happy you did! Portion sizes are big, and so many veggies in the biryani. You can tell they put a lot of care into their business, and our house is happy...

Expect to wait 30 minutes per ordered dish. I ordered the Chili Mo Mo and the Chicken Chow Mein plus a Naan and was told it would take 15-20 minutes. It took an hour to complete. I had a friend show up 15 minutes after me (ordered the biryani) then receive their food after 30 minutes later while I continued to wait. There was zero compensation. The Naan was for sure microwaved (I witnessed it) and I am pretty sure the dumplings were too based on the texture. The sauce and filling were okay, but the Chili momo dumplings were very tough to chewy. Frustratingly, the chow Mein was cold, but it was actually flavorful. It was strange to have to order in the mini Mart for the food truck around the back. The person working the food truck also was trying to run the mini Mart. Overall, I was very upset to spend so much time and money on...

This place is great simple quality food. Exactly what you want in a late night dinner. Portions are generous. Indian curry is so comforting. The shop owner is really nice and welcoming. I highly recommend this cart for anyone wanting to go food. Now they have picnic tables and a covered area to sit but it's also close enough to the park to enjoy a meal there too. They also have vegetarian and gluten free options.
