Fantastic neighborhood bar. The Old Gilbert Road manages to be unpretentious, even as they serve local microbrews, CBD soda, and have an appetizer of sauteed brussel sprouts (which is fabulous, by the way, and you should totally get an order).
The burgers are quite good. And the bar keeper mixes a fine cocktail.
They often have live music in the evenings, and while the bands vary in quality, the drawback is the house sound system is pretty bad, and generally overmodulated (except for the vocals, which are often entirely lost). I didn't buy anything so therefore i wasn't a customer so the guy inside came out side to smoke a cigarette and asked me for my ID after he told me that I couldn't drink my vitamin water and that I was trespassing because I wasn't a customer. If there was room for improvement: Need a vegan/vegetarian alternative... I suggest maybe getting some frozen boca burgers and just microwaving them for sandwiches (skip the grill)
Pool tables somehow have "slow" non-league felt instead of the professional grade cloth Diamond tables come with. If you're a pool snob/league player this is a bit disappointing.
