My friend and I chose this food truck for our lunchtime taco date and so glad we did! She came down from Portland and I, from Beaverton and we wanted to find something close to Clackamas Shopping Center/Promenade.

A number of things we liked:

  1. Portion sizes: HUGE. At $3/taco, they're a little more than your $1.50 street taco but the portions are seriously big and they do not skimp on the meat and toppings. They also use fajita size blue corn tortillas and give you sauces and lime wedges with the tacos. We each ordered 3 for ourselves around 1pm and were still full from them at dinner time.
  2. Prices: Very reasonable. You get great value for what you pay.
  3. Parking: ample parking in connected, free parking lot, and street parking as well.
  4. Ambiance: Initially driving into the Foster neighborhood, my first impression was that it was a bit sketchy but this block seemed safe and lively with new development around it. Next to the food trucks there is also a South American grocery store and two restaurants with a bar. Lots of picnic tables in the seating area and overall pretty clean.

We ordered the asada, pollo, carnitas and al pastor tacos and they were all delicious, but my favorite was the al pastor. Super juicy and well marinated. Wasn't hugely impressed by the guacamole in the chips and guac (was expecting more chunkiness and ingredients like cilantro, onion, tomato etc but it was on the plain side). Also got some fried plantains from the food truck on the opposite end. Made for a delicious and filling lunch!

Google maps for some reason don't show all the other food trucks right next to it (I think there were about 5-6) but there are plenty of options if you want to sample a few...

Not sure if this cart is under different ownership now but I remember when this cart had first opened up I was there at LEAST three times a day ordering their tacos which I never do but when I tell you most of my paychecks went to this cart because at the time they used to be the best tacos I’ve ever had seemed like they put their whole heart and soul into those tacos I mean I don’t know how else to describe it. Unfortunately, now they completely taste nothing like how they used to it’s sad because I brought several people by and they all agreed how amazing they were when they opened up. This cart was all I could ever talk about was how good they used to be and finally recently I gave it one last try with my friend and I was so bummed. Please go back to...

I am so happy to see that Tierra del Sol is still here serving their incredibly authentic and delicious entrées!

I usually opt for their tacos which at $3 three each are an extreme bargain because they are packed full of deliciousness (see photos although the pictures do not do them justice)

This time we ventured from our normal fare and tried the Empanada de Amarillo. Soooooo moist, flavorful and downright yummy 😋

We also had the Tetala del Frijol. Which is my daughters favorite dish.

Speaking of my daughter she is severely allergic to gluten and this she can safely enjoy almost every dish here. Lots of gluten free options!!

We paired our delicious dinner with sangria from Barrio! Go visit Barrio. You will not be...

I'm Oaxacan and this was Oaxacan food. Blue corn tortillas, Oaxacan cheese, homemade mole and black beans, man I was in heaven. I say try this place out when you can. I got a quesadilla with carnitas (braised pork) and I couldn't help myself and ate half of it before taking a picture. My husband got the mole coloradito and he had a smile the whole time eating the dish. I would say stop by for some exquisite food.
