I needed a seafood fix and chose this time to check out Lil Chippy. It did NOT disappoint! I was greeted warmly when I arrived. They explained how you order up at the counter/bar and then have the food brought to you. Easy-peasy. The staff was very friendly. I even had a fellow (Metuchen) Jersey boy come out from the kitchen and acknowledge my Rutgers hoodie! Cheers! It was still happy hour, so I hopped on a few $1.50 oysters. They also had some baked, stuffed oysters. There were 3 in the order but I hadn't realized those were a bit more pricey, at $12. However, they were worth it! Super delicious! The raw oysters came with a few sauces/toppings. I didn't care much for them, but the oysters, themselves, were very satisfying. Finally, the main event. Fish and chips! I've been to places where you get two, maybe even three fillets with your order. So, I was initially apprehensive/disappointed when I saw only one piece of fish. BUT, that was very short-lived, as the piece was fairly massive. Any notion of disappointment disappeared quickly. So crispy and good on the outside and flakey and hearty on the inside, especially when dipped in that awesome tartar sauce! The chips were plentiful and went down so nicely with the malt vinegar. The slaw was super tasty! All of that, washed down smoothly with a very tasty Mast Landing pilsner. As you can see, by the attached photo, nothing but the dips and containers survived the meal. I highly recommend Lil Chippy! Thanks for such a nice dining experience! I'll be back to explore more of the menu.

🌊 A Hidden Gem Serving Ocean’s Finest! 🐟🍟 From the moment we walked in, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The staff greeted us with genuine warmth and delivered service that was both friendly and lightning fast—like they knew we were counting down the seconds to seafood heaven. Now, let’s talk oysters: briny, fresh, and flawlessly shucked. Each bite tasted like a wave crashing onto the shore—pure coastal bliss. And the fish and chips? Golden, crisp perfection. The batter was light and crunchy, encasing fish so tender it practically melted on contact. The fries were the kind you’d write love letters to: hot, fluffy, and kissed with just the right amount of salt. The food here doesn’t just satisfy—it sings. Everything felt elevated yet comforting, crafted with the kind of care and flavor that earns a solid chef’s kiss. 👨‍🍳💋 If you’re looking for your next favorite seafood spot, this place is the one to beat. Absolutely unforgettable.

This place! This place is a gem and then some. Amazing oysters, perfect flavor, texture and size for an awesome oyster. The eye dropper delivery system for the sauces was a neat method to get exact amounts. The lil chippy was very tasty, not too salty nor too much oil from frying. The carrot appetizer has mega flavor with the pea puree and feta and was quite refreshing. The crab buddy is rich beyond belief and I was very glad to just have split it versus trying to scarf that richness all by my lonesome. And when the kitchen made a slight mistake because they were busy and we spent too long enjoying our oysters they more than made up for it by offering the best dessert... Key lime pie that was so light and delicate that it made the best ending to an amazing afternoon meal. Cant say enough good about this spot! Would spend hours enjoying oysters, and a really clean lager that compliments the seafood quite well.

Had the Fish & Chips dinner and the Roasted Cauliflower as a side. As soon as I walked into the restaurant it had a welcoming feeling and a very open layout for the dining room! I was greeted by Austin who was absolutely tremendous and welcoming! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the options on the menu.

I also had a chance to have a word or two with the chef and his sous chef and they were equally knowledgeable and proud of the product they are putting out and it shows in the flavors of the food and the dishes!

The fish and chips dinner was absolutely tremendous! The fish was lightly battered and absolutely tasted wonderful with the tartar sauce that came with it and the slaw was light and refreshing! The roasted cauliflower was also well done and the adjacent dipping sauce that came with it was the perfect accompaniment to the cauliflower!

For a restaurant that will be celebrating its first anniversary this June and this being my first visit, I feel very comfortable and recommending this restaurant to anybody coming to Portland for a nice meal and a good way to finish the day or start the evening!

They are very proud of their food and establishment as well. They should because of all the love they put into the food and that they put into the restaurant to make it a very comfortable and welcoming place to have a meal!

I am looking forward to a return visit and having another exceptional dining experience!

Lil' Chippy is a wonderful off the beaten path type of restaurant that you really need to experience when you come to Portland and travel down Washington Avenue!

WELL DONE LIL' CHIPPY!!!!!! WELL...
