The food was fine actually it was really really good but the staff suck so I used the app. With my purchase to make it to where if I bought a breakfast sandwhich I got a free hashbrown(yes I even read the fine print an made sure to get one of the 3 sandwhichs u could chose from so that this offer would work) so we tell them guy are order my sister even told the guy before we got up there that we had the offer or w.e just so he knew already ya know so I hand the guy my phone he "scans" it an hands it back my sister goes on to say how much was it he at first says $13.25 which is cool i mean sounds right she hands him a $20 we are continue talking he hands her her change mind u me an her are still just talking we pull up to the next window an she looks at her change an looks at me an says he only gave me back $2.00? I was like hmmmm I'm not that good at math never have been but isnt he missing oh idk $4.75. She says ya then she turns to grab are food an before she could even say anything the staff was rushing us on are way being rude an snoty just plain not cool at all so my sister kinda gets up set an tells them to hold on an that the guy at the other window mess up he did t scan are offer first off. An gave us the wrong change. They say uh no thats right that's right an My sister is trying to tell them no it aint an i start looking threw are food just to find that he added some random large size coffee an they didn't even give us the freaking hashbrown or my nephews yogurt so we tell them the messed up they tell us to go to the front so that they can bring out are missing food an they asked for the random coffee back so we are like w.e okay well abouthr 25mins later some lady comes out holding $5 an says "here is ur money now go!" Like we are messing her day up an stuff I was so mad at this point that it took everything I had to not get out off the car an tell her about herself but no insted all I did was look at the money look back at her an say "thank u an have a good day an dont forget if u had trained ur staff right maybe they would know how to handle differsnt issues without having to run to u every 5 mins making ur life more stressful but thats what u get when all u hire is ur friends an not people who really need a job food for thought js bud but anyways like I said thank u again have a good rest of ur day oh an ill be calling corporate tomorrow as well bye now" an then we left maybe I said to much but after all the bs we had to go through an all the time we wasted just sitting there was unreal an not fair when it should have taken us maybe 15-20mins TOPS!!! (Cause I only live like 3 blocks away) Ended up taking us 1hr an 35 mins!!! U know how long that is just for someone to come out an be rude even tho its thire fault I can't stand it long story short I will not be going to that McDonald's anymore ill only go to the one on halsey or 82nd an stark...
Read moreI don't leave all that many Google reviews, but this has gotta be the worst McDonalds I've ever been to and that is not something I say lightly.
They take forever to get to you at the drive thru for some reason. If you have a mobile order they'll say they're out of certain things you ordered and that they can't refund you because you did it through the app. Once they told me they didn't have my order at all even though I confirmed up and down in the app that I was at the right store. Again, couldn't get the order refunded because as far as the app was concerned with its GPS usage, I did visit the store and just decided not to get my order I paid for. And I can't walk into the restaurant because they lock the doors very early due to the high homeless population that congregates around the store. This location seems really horribly unable to deal with orders from the app.
So, okay, fine - maybe the app is kinda bad. But if you order from the drive-thru the old-fashioned way, they still mess up your order and consistently blame you for it. This is after however long they keep you waiting before they actually get to you at the drive-thru. How do you win? Mistakes happen - but this place is halfhearted about making it right, at best, and the onus seems to end up on you rather than them.
I don't blame the employees - they are probably understaffed and under-resourced for this location. There's a huge homelessness problem everywhere in Portland, but this particular McDonalds seems to have a huge issue with folks just hanging around the parking lot. Maybe because it's next-door to the bottle drop. I had a guy walk up to my open window at the drive-thru and harass me, so I can't imagine what the employees deal with having to be here every day. Management should step in, hire more people, and equip the folks they do hire better to deal with this area. Maybe stop keeping it open 24 hours because this location can't handle it.
It's all kind of connected, I imagine - homeless folks around the building act unpleasantly to the employees, leading to a fast turnover rate, leading to a constant stream of new & undertrained employees getting orders wrong, leading to more angry customers... but it's just not acceptable.
I've legitimately lost like $20 to this McDonald's not fulfilling orders. It's kind of a "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" thing that I even went to this place again. Don't make my mistake. There's countless McDonalds locations in Portland, go to literally any other one. Or just cross the street to the KFC or go to the Taco Bell a few doors down if you really need fast food in this...
Read moreI’m not sure what happened to the once-familiar McDonald's, but the location I visited has sadly become a breeding ground for all sorts of problems. Beyond the fast food and fast service, it’s hard to ignore the unsettling atmosphere that now permeates the place. What used to be a casual stop for a quick meal has turned into a haven for drug activity and homelessness.
As I entered, I was greeted not by the usual warmth of the golden arches, but by a scene that made me feel more like I was walking into a chaotic street corner than a family-friendly restaurant. The dining area was cluttered, the tables were strewn with abandoned food, and there were groups of people loitering both inside and outside the building. The air, thick with tension, was also thick with an unpleasant mix of smells. It was hard to ignore the constant comings and goings of individuals who appeared to be dealing with issues far beyond just needing a meal.
I didn’t feel safe or comfortable here. Instead of a clean, welcoming place for a quick bite, McDonald's seemed more like a sanctuary for those seeking refuge from the streets, only it felt as though it was more about escaping into a haze of drugs and despair. The staff did their best, but it was clear they were overwhelmed by the situation, and frankly, I didn’t feel like it was their responsibility to manage the crowd of displaced individuals.
I wish this was just a one-off bad experience, but it seems like this location has become symptomatic of a deeper problem affecting public spaces in the area. Until something changes, I’ll be looking for a safer and more comfortable...
