I’m from the East Coast & Love Authentic Jamaican Cuisine. One of the things I dislike most about relocating to the PNW, is the lack of diverse cultural food options, specifically, Jamaican food! I’ve visited Jamaica 7 times & I go back for the food! During my 6 years here, I hadn’t found truly authentic Jamaican dishes, until visiting Portland Oregon this past Saturday. MISTRY'S ISLAND FLAVOR, located at 3441 N. Vancouver Ave, in Portland, OR, transported me back in time to Island Life! The Oxtails & Curry Goat both were tender, flavorful & literally falling off the bone in juicy goodness. I devoured as much of my meal as possible, as if I were a person held in captivity, surviving on water & peanuts for 3 years. All platters are served with oversized portions of delicious tender Rice & Peas, gently sautéed Cabbage which still maintained that crunch factor and Plantains so decadent, a dessert wasn’t needed! While Mistry’s offered traditional Jamaican dishes such as Jerked Chicken, Curry Chicken, Curry Goat, Oxtails, Beef Patties & Escovitch Fish, the Owner created new dishes with truly Jamaican Flair….Rasta Pasta (which can be ordered vegan style), Oxtail Egg Rolls & Pad Thai Jerked Chicken. The staff are all amazing, they pay attention to the fine details & the orders were prepared rather quickly, while being prepared on the spot. It’s not food, that’s prepared & sitting for hours. If you’re in the Portland area, I highly suggest visiting MISTRY'S ISLAND FLAVOR! Hell even if not, it’s worth a Saturday day trip to Portland, just for the food! Either way, you won’t regret it.

Tried this wonderful restaurant for the first time for Jamaican Independence Day today and it not only impressed me, but made me feel closer to home. Mark is kind and welcoming with customer service that exceeds expectations. Will keep coming back and recommending this place to anyone who will listen. Give thanks, God bless you and big up! 😊

My first time trying Jamaican food and I really enjoyed it! The Jerk Chicken and fried plantains were mighty tasty. Tangy and just the right amount of slightly sweet with interesting spices. Totally recommend checking 'em out!

Ive been on the hunt for the best Jamaican food in the city and I can finally say—I found it! The owners were absolutely amazing—super welcoming, down-to-earth, and you can really feel the love they put into everything they do.

Now let’s talk about the food. The Rasta pasta? Creamy, flavorful, with just the right kick—it's hands down the best I’ve had. The oxtails were falling-off-the-bone tender, seasoned perfectly, and the gravy was unreal. And don’t even get me started on the red snapper—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor in every bite.

This spot blew me away. If you're looking for real, authentic Jamaican food, this is the one. Highly recommend—10/10....

The FLAVOR my god! This place is so good - we got oxtails (falling off the bone, sticky and amazing), curry chicken (again, the FALVOR), jerk chicken (so aromatic, so tender) and escovitch fish (my favorite thing ever done perfectly). We also got given a complimentary Rasta Pasta because the chef over heard me raving about it to my friend who had never tried it! Sooooo good....
