Ok, first I'm going to whine a little. Parking is a pain. The place looks abandoned, the hip sign is hard to read, there is virtually zero phone signal... That being said, the place still gets 5 stars and my future business. It was a long day yard sailing and I was tired and the truck was full. Yard sailing is like journeying to far off lands in pursuit of gold and treasure, and like sailing the high seas, at the end of the journey you are often left crashed, beaten and exhausted on strange shores. Once the ship has run aground, you cast about for edible food stuffs that can be had without too much foraging. In this case the google stars led me to Parkside, hidden away so well across from the park, that an intrepid sailer could blow past it a hundred time ad not notice it. But ah young sailer, despair not. turn your hopeful face to the rusted sign and enter with a glad heart and a light step I had the smashed fingerling potatoes and a tuna melt on dark rye and I'll tell you, the rye was in fact dark with savory butter, melted cheese and toasted to perfection. Here I take a break from writing to think back on not only the delectable package of buttery tuna goodness, but to ruminate on the wonders of those pickle slices. Really they could forgo the restaurant and sell pickles and they'd make their pirate treasure. Hands down the best pickle slices I've ever had at an eating establishment. The fingerling potatoes were perfect, a revelation unto themselves. They come drenched in a strong and savory oil and are flavorful all the way to the center. I can only say if I had had a morsel of bread, i would have mopped the plate. the service was approachable, attentive and willing to engage with an old bear of a guy and even went so far as to fall for one of my stupid jokes. Not only that, she didn't smack me or throw me out of the restaurant. A kindness which I greatly appreciate. All in all a perfect place to end the day and recuperate from many hours of driving and of driving hard bargains. As a wise man once said, Just give em the pickle!

I was on the way to the nearby Twilight Theater to see Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" and found that I had to eat beforehand. The Parkside is a MUST revisit for me! The standard menu is fine but the chalk menu between the bar and the cooking area is where it's at. The staff is friendly and not too in your face - a plus for me. The laughter by other patrons was so wonderful to hear. AND the music playlist tonight ! ... wow; as I write this review, Siouxie & the Banshee's "Dear Prudence" and proper Cocteau Twins beats enhanced this early autumn visit to the Parkside. BUT, when my food arrived, I was humbled by its presentation. And, it's taste? I ordered the Brick Chicken. Lightly salted, not too buttery potatoes, and the chicken thigh fat was trimmed with care rendering a genuinely home feeling base on the palate. Come here. Be yourself. Laugh. Eat. [ .... and maybe you will, like me and others, LOVE the mushroom gravy on the "Brick Chicken" ]

Had a quick dinner on a lovely summer evening and got to enjoy the breeze with seats just inside the large roll-up door that opens out onto their outdoor seating area. Drinks were fabulous and the food was well-seasoned and freshly made. Service was very attentive, though it could have been a bit more informative upon arrival- we were seated and served waters and menus, made a decision on food, only to be told that our selection was sold out...and then that our second selection was also sold out. A quick intro upon arrival would have been helpful, but they definitely made up for it with with cheerful and attentive service. We'll definitely be back again, hopefully to try their breakfast options.

We had a great time tonight relaxing at a sidewalk table with some tasty drinks and nice bites. The caesar brussels were terrific, perfectly cooked and served with an entire half meyer lemon. But the star for me was the AMAZING simple green salad served with a slab of serious blue cheese drizzled with honey, which was mind-blowingly good. I'm not a mac-n-cheese fan, but my sweetheart endorses the Mac with bbq pork as well. And the plate of pickled things was nice and crispy and the pickled egg was a nice touch. All in all, it was a lovely evening, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and we're already talking about coming back soon to try the fried baloney sandwich.

I’m deeply disappointed with my experience ordering from this bistro. I ordered two Tuna Melts through their BOGO offer, but both were completely inedible. Instead of the melted cheese you’d expect, each sandwich had what seemed like deep-fried cheese on both ends, which was far from appetizing. I can’t believe they thought it was acceptable to serve meals in such poor condition. This was my first time trying this place, but unfortunately, the quality delivered has ensured it will be my last. Updated: I sent a DM on IG and they responded. 5 Stars for that type of service. I look forward to trying this bistro again and updating my review.

Parkside is great! A corner shop (always a plus), with ez park access, a reasonable amount of covered, outdoor seating, and an unpretentious, neighborhood vibe. I ordered one of the house cocktails, asking to sub mezcal for bourbon; the bartender happily obliged, and the cocktail was well-executed & delicious. Just ordered a snack -- the potato salad -- and not-for-nothing it was one of the best potato salads I've ever had, and folks, I'm a fellow who's been to his share of bbqs, pool parties, picnics, you *name* it, I've eaten potato salad *at* it. Now, call your mother, she loves to hear from you & we both know it's been too long.
