This is a cool statue that was built in 1959 for Oregons 100th birthday and the city of Portland on Denver Ave. It was chosen as the sight for the Oregon Centennial Exposition and International Trade Fair. This 31 ft tall statue greeted patrons of the expo and represents Oregons rich logging history. He was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Come take a picture with one of the tallest men in our history, although the tallest version of Paul is in the Trees of Mystery in Northern Cal. As always, leave it better than you found it, and enjoy 😉

The Paul Bunyan statue is a quirky landmark of N Interstate Ave & the Kenton neighborhood that has been in existence since before my early childhood; my siblings and I thought it was sooo cool. His outfit has changed (for the better) and this 57-year-old, 37' tall dude is always camera-ready for any foto-fun you could want... I invite you to give him a visit, and learn his story...

I thought there would be more to this statue. It's not in a park or nice place to take pictures as it's on a busy street corner across from the transit station and a strip joint. A plaque commemorating the boy scouts but no background story to explain who Paul Bunyan was, not to mention no Ox named Blue. Not too well thought out Imho...

I don't even know how we found ourselves going to the Paul Bunyan Statue, but we did. It was an odd thing to have in the city, but we decided to embrace it. We posed for pictures and made silly faces with good old Paul. He's in a state of disrepair, could really use some paint.

Passed this 31 ft tall statue a bazillion times, but finally snapped a picture while waiting for the Max last weekend! It’s tall, it’s old (erected in 1959 for the State centennial!), in good shape, and is an awesome nod to the region’s logging history and American folklore.

It was everything that I hoped that it would be and so, so much more. They say don't meet your heroes. But they don't say anything about legends. Don't listen to those old squares, kids. Dreams really do come true.
