What a delightful find. A simple little coffee spot with a Master Barista. This place is a little gem in kind of an out of the way place (but not really). It’s on the edge of downtown and Goose Hollow, just over the 405 freeway at the Yamhill bridge (Yamhill and SW 14th St.); and, it seems to have parking. Can’t say for sure as we walked the short block from our hotel. It’s a simple shop with a Master Barista named Bradley. After just one visit Bradley knew our drinks down to the last detail of the type of milk we liked. On our first visit there were four of us, all who ordered something different. And all drinks were delicious. One friend most often drinks a mocha and has drunk them all over the world. He said that Bradley’s was one of the best, if not the best he’s ever had. The next day, just my husband and I returned. Bradley knew our order without our need to tell him. And this day it just only the two of us out of four from the previous day. On day three, I changed things up and ordered a Chai instead of my usual latte. And Bradley asked if I wanted almond milk in my Chai, like I have in my latte. How can someone remember such details in such a short time? The coffee and service at Super Joy is so good and joyful that it gave me yet another reason I wished I lived in Portland rather than just a visitor. Easy five-star review....
Read moreI’m really glad I went here today. SuperJoy roast and serve their own coffee. The place had a nice vibe and aesthetic, a coffee lab vibe with the roasting equipment on display makes a nice feel.
I had a Latte and a taster of the drip
The drip was a blend mainly Guatemalan beans with some China beans. Sweet and mellow with a Fruity finish and different levels of flavors. Very interesting to drink. I think on the lighter side. Might be the best drip I have ever had. Im very glad the barista asked me if I wanted a try…I normally avoid drips in coffee shops,
The espresso was; i’m sure technically great. But it wasn’t my thing. The flavour was very nutty, overly nutty for me. Maybe walnuts maybe malt (?) if that’s a thing. It was sweet strong taste. I think the sweetness may have been assisted by the milk.
It seems like the roast of the beans are always changing, since its small batch, so your experience may vary.
The barista was very nice and you can buy bags of beans.
I love places that are into their coffee, art, skill, craft and this place certainly is. Im sure someone who knows coffee could dork deep in here.
Ill be back! great to find spots like this. So glad I walked the extra blocks away from Casestudy...
Read moreThe primary concern for any place calling itself a cafe should be the coffee. Atmosphere or anything else of a secondary nature such as service or decor or frankly even cleanliness, should be compartmentalized and only mentioned so that customers would, upon visiting, know that this review is of that specific cafe. So is it worthy to be a coffee joint? My latte said yes, sir. The table was poorly secured and wobbly. The name of the place sounds like it was supplied by Temu. Tbh, we even had doubts about the barista, we being construction workers with bougie tastes and the barista being a bit more on the "Portlandia" side of things - and yet I would give it 5 stars if he yelled at us, spit on the floor while taking our orders, and if the lights were flickering and AC was broken (it wasn't, decor is fine). That is because the extraction was perfect, the temp was excellent, milk perfectly steamed and frothed and selected carefully, beans roasted beautifully, and it tastes like a foretaste of the divine, reminding us not of base desires and passions, but reaching for something higher. 11/10, love it, Lord willing will come back, if I am in the area again. Tl;Dr good...
