It's been since before the virus that we attended an event at the beautiful Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
We had a beautiful experience. It was glorious as we walked up ander the Portland sign lit up with people gathering. This sign is a tourist landmark. In my opinion.
The design & architecture of Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall brings back over 40 years of events attended by my family and friends. Come as you are. Dress up or dress as you wish.
Parking garages and street parking make it easy to attend this downtown event.
All the seats are great seats. We like the mezzanine level which acoustically resonates the sounds of jazzy pieces by Diana Krall. This level also allows a full concert hall experience.
I especially love the small details of lighting, the stage and design.
The overall experience never disappoints. Even the woman behind us, yelling out her solo whoops and hollars in untimely ways, was a delight. By "untimely" I mean the artist was singing, the audience silent. I love an individual's enthusiastic responses.
Look at my handsome husband and I. You'd never know we were chasing our toddler grandson all afternoon before attending.
Be sure to make Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall part of your...
Read moreMy sister and I went to see Dancing with the Stars. Neither of us had been to the Schnitzer before. I saw some pictures online before we went, but I was still surprised by the grandeur of the place. There are 3 large chandeliers in the lobby which reflect beautifully in the mirrors when it gets dark out. The rest of the building is beautiful too. Everyone working at the Schnitzer was polite and helpful. As soon as we walked through the door someone approached us and asked if we needed help. We really enjoyed the show. It was a nice size venue for the event, not so large that the stage seems far away. My one complaint is the seating. I was lucky enough to be sitting on the aisle for the first half so I had room for my legs. My sister and I switched at intermission and my legs were very uncomfortable. I am 5'8", so not extremely tall but my knees were squished against the seat in front of me. I don't think I would have been able to sit like that for the entire show, it was that...
Read moreMusic washes away from our souls the dirt of every day life. Especially orchestral and classical music if you give it a fair chance. But even more so if the conductor is brilliant and can incorporate something from today into classically composed masterpieces that were penned in the 19th centeruy. I know I'm praising the show mostly, but the event wouldn't have been as enthralling at any other venue. This attracted a crowd who were only familiar with either the classical music or more likely with Drake. And not only did that get young, teenage kids to be excited about something that they normally wouldn't be it also gave parents the opportunity to take in music they wouldn't normally give a fair listen if not presented this way. The coming together of many different people from all different walks of life to agree upon something like music, and share together the enjoyment it provides is a beautiful thing these days. I thank this venue with...
