I recently went here with my cousin and to say the least, the dishes were more mediocre or unappetizing than they were a success. The rolls which consisted of spicy tuna were bland—the nigiri (without sauce) even had more flavor—,the tamago was filled with a greasy water-like consistency (almost like an unenjoyable surprise gusher), and the service we received was what set everything off. For one, nobody really checked in on us. We were left alone until we had to call someone over for ourselves. This wasn’t a deal breaker but it’s not the type of treatment many people are used to receiving in the service industry where employees would come to check up on you at least 1-2 times minimum. Unsure of the server’s name but they approached us in a reserved and unwelcoming attitude—as if they didn’t want us to be there. I understand people have their bad days where some folx are capable of masking their feelings more than others, but this person didn’t try to even make us feel like we were welcomed. I refrained from asking questions from this person specifically because it was quite obvious they were not in the mood to serve us. When they rung up our check, they again were quiet, wouldn’t look us in the eyes, and seemed as if they wanted nothing to do with us. I didn’t want to take things too personal at first, but the moment a new group of customers walked in, that same server joyfully and enthusiastically shouted, “HELLO, WELCOME IN!” I was in disbelief...Someone’s behavior towards you is not always a result of your own doing—which is why I tried not to take the situation to heart at first—but seeing how their attitude drastically shifted with another customer proved me wrong. And after reviewing previous reviews regarding the service here, it only further proves my point. I'm relieved to see this wasn't only something I experienced, but I'm more disappointed with how this establishment allows for such poor quality of both food and especially customer service. As affordable as this place was with their godzilla-size portions, the quality and service was not worth investing my time and money. It was my first and last time dining at this place and I’m disappointed with how I spent a long commute to try this restaurant out, but now at least I know which place to avoid...
Read moreWe were really excited to try this spot as we live only a couple of blocks away and love sushi. We came in for lunch yesterday, and about 5 minutes into eating, i noticed one of the servers (lady with a grey hat) standing next to our table watching us eat. Not just casually standing against the wall absentmindedly day dreaming. She was in a military stance with her arms locked behind her back straight STARING. I nudged my partner and asked how long she had been standing there, and he said since we sat down. I tried to continue to enjoy my lunch but i couldn’t, this woman was dead staring at us. I made eye contact with her a few times in hopes she would take a social cue that this was weird, but no luck. It was extremely uncomfortable. I finally looked at her and said “hello”, to which she replied with a “hi”. And then moved behind us to continue to watch us eat from behind our booth. It was extremely bizarre. I finally turned to her again and asked her for the box and the check because i couldn’t be watched any longer. I can’t believe we paid $30 to be watched like that, I can’t even put into words how creepy it was. As soon as we were finishing boxing up the food, she wheeled a bus cart over to our table to clear our few dishes, so close we could barely get out and put on our jackets. Still staring. At this point my skin was crawling, i let the hostess at the front know how uncomfortable we were as we left, but i don’t think she understood. I will never come back. Food was ok, not even worth the price even if we hadn’t been watched the whole time. Chicken yakisoba was bland yet sweet, and the sushi was ok, but didn’t seem...
Read moreWARNING: Severe poisoning from this location
Prefacing this review with the context that I eat sushi at least once a month and have never once had stomach issues. I am no stranger to raw fish or belt sushi.
I visited Sushi Hada yesterday for happy hour around 3pm. Pretty much every roll that was on the belt was looking rotten and gnarlier than I’ve ever seen at a sushi place; like they’d been made in the morning and left out all day at room temperature.
Being hungry and trusting the restaurant , I had a few plates of sushi from the belt that I should not have. The sushi tasted old and sour and made me want to instead order directly to the table since there was nothing fresh on the belt.
Only an hour after eating, my partner and I started to get very sick. Fast forward 24 hours later I have severe food poisoning that has made me miss work for the day.
After speaking with the owner, they decided to refund me for the visit, which I very much appreciate. However, how food is handled at this place was very unsanitary and concerning. The owner really needs to take a look at how food is handled here and do something different. Putting this review up as a warning to anyone deciding to eat here...
