Great food that I'm surprised doesn't have more ratings! Maybe they're just new?
Lots of food options (maybe even overwhelmingly many). Fresh, tasty food. Traditional style salsas (simple, no chunks), with a "kick yo butt" hot onion and habanero relish option on the side for the brave or foolhardy (no warning was obvious when I grabbed it... Just recognized the scary orange slices of a small pepper).
Loved my 3 x $2 street tacos (asada, carnitas, and al pastor) plus a big glass Mexican Coke. My favorite by far was the carnitas (thanks for suggesting it!). Rich shredded pork with just the right amount of salt and deep other flavors. Asada was nice and lean (no nasty white fat chunks or super chewy spots), and evenly cooked with a simple grill flavor mostly. Al pastor had some good flavor on it too. All were super clean meat, which I mention because I've been unhappy often in the past, and when spending more than here.
Location has a number of nice picnic tables with umbrellas (its sunny today). And they even use a nice thick, soft napkin.
It's the little things that give a great experience once you have the...
Read moreTaqueria Luna is easily my favorite spot in SE Portland when I’m craving a burrito. My wife and I are both vegan, and while most of their menu is standard non-vegan Mexican, their veggie burrito is truly exceptional. It’s hands down the best we’ve ever had—flavorful, full of great beans and rice and veggies,, and always prepared exactly the way we order it — vegano, so no cheese, no sour cream. Never had an issue with accidental cheese, which is more than I can say for any other place I order. Perfect attention to detail.
The family who runs the cart is always kind, welcoming, and makes the whole ordering experience smooth. If it were up to me, I’d eat here nearly every day. The only downside is that the hours can be unpredictable—like most food carts, they sometimes need to close due to weather, family matters, or just the realities of running a small operation. My advice: call ahead to make sure they’re open before heading over. Even with that caveat, Taqueria Luna will always be my first choice when I...
Read moreThis place has amazing food and I drive out of my way to come here but I think it’s absolutely absurd to charge $15 for a burrito. I ordered a Carne Asada burrito with no cheese no sour cream and then I was charged three extra dollars to get guacamole and lettuce, even though I’m already not getting cheese and sour cream. I think that that is totally absurd and this food cart should be ashamed of themselves for charging such high prices, especially when I’m already getting my burrito with two less items. So I was charged full price for a burrito plus extra toppings even though I got two toppings less which are two of the higher priced toppings. Because of this Will not be coming back to this place and I will also not be sending my clients here anymore because I don’t think that’s fair. My tacos were $10 for three tacos and I think that is extremely high priced too. So for my burrito, three tacos and two cokes it was $29 plus tip....
