Everything about this place fits into "they are trying". It seems like they are trying to be an upscale restaurant, however the mark has been missed. The service was friendly and nice, but it was more like a breakfast cafe or something more informal. The menu is upscale and priced a bit high, even for an airport. I went for the $18 shrimp and grits, big mistake. It looked like they were shooting for upscale shrimp and grits, but I doubt the cook has ever actually had good shrimp and grits. This dish was unflavorful, a bit too runny, and really didn't work. It definitely was not worth $18. If you are going for country cafe, as your name suggests, try downscaling the menu and lowering your prices. I rated this a 3 because the waitress was friendly and very helpful.

I was expecting something more... The reviews of the past picture things like breakfast omelets, fried chicken w/mashers and such. Not much more to the menu than a couple sandwiches, burger, salad and eggs w/home fries. Bummer. I paired my bloody whatever with a fried chicken sando(imagine a big chic nug from McD), for the low price of $4, I added bacon. Good thing I sprung for the bacon too, as it was really the only edible element in this particular ensemble. The fries were thin cold sticks. But, I guess, perhaps, I was wrong to expect anything more for $30 in an airport.

Food was good, priced a little high but that kinda how it works at the airport. I had the aptly named "The country cat" did a great job making my sunny side up eggs, The home fries were yummy and the homeade sausage patty was pretty delicious. Also got the puff half caf cold brew coffee which was very yummy and not very bitter which is good cuz it did not need much sweetener. The only gripe I can say is they didn't have decaf. But that's not a deal breaker.

I used to frequent the original Country Cat in SE Portland near Mt. Tabor. They had some of the best fried chicken I’d had anywhere and good cocktails. It was the first place I’d ever had a caipirinha outside of Brazil. I was a fan. So I was stoked when years ago they opened up a storefront in the Portland airport. This helped heal my broken heart when the SE Portland store closed down. However, every darned time I go (I travel on business several times a year) I have a bad experience. No matter who the server is, the decision on when to greet or serve you seems based on some odd, arbitrary algorithm I have yet to decipher. I’ve sat down there and had no fewer than five patrons who came after me get welcomed prior. I’ve sat at the bar directly in front of the bartender and watched while he soon caters to one end of the bar and ignores me and the other end. I’ve tried to figure it out. I really do maintain decent hygiene! Lol. But there is no rhyme or reason to it other than first come is not first welcomed. Additionally, the food has deteriorated. This week I had a chicken sandwich just riddled with fat. It was inedible. I mildly brought this to my server’s attention. He didn’t care … mentioned something about the pandemic (only in Portland, damn!) … and then I had to ask repeatedly for my check. I am a please and thank you person. Having been a server, I try to treat folks in the food industry with respect. This courtesy is not returned at...

I'm so upset I need to express my frustration in hopes that this place improves their staff training. Problems: slow bartender that doesn't pay attention to you at all said bartender doesn't know how to read a USA passport....

I sat at the bar and obviously like most customers I have a limited amount of time before I catch my flight, I came to the airport early and was planning on eating breakfast. The man at the bar gave me a menu and walked away to serve other guests. He returned and I tried to place my order but instead he asked for my ID and walked away. He took someone else's order that sat down after me. He came back and I then stared at my passport for over a minute (by the way he hadn't placed my order yet). He then tells me my passport was expired so I gave him my driver's license (my passport was not expired) and I don't know how you can hire someone that doesn't know how to read a brand new US PASSPORT?! I am an American citizen sitting in an American airport in America and he is wasting my time telling me my passport is expired. By the way he walked away to serve other guests while I looked for my driver's license. only THEN did he take my order. I eventually got my food and I added a star because I did enjoy the food I ate and it came out relatively quickly once the order was placed. The bartender was horrible though. Please...

A colleague and I stopped by this restaurant to grab some breakfast before our flight. When we walked into the restaurant we were not greeted promptly. We needed to order to go and were directed to the bar to do so. We ordered our food and sat at a table near the exit to wait for our food.

Moments later we were approached by a woman wearing a green button up shirt telling us that we couldn't sit there because these tables were for dine in guests only. We asked her where we should wait for our food at and she directed us over to the benches at the security checkpoint. She wanted us to wait for our food at the security checkpoint. Since those benches are designated for people at the security checkpoint we just stood outside the restaurant waiting for our food.

The reason for this review isn't just for the fact that she wanted us to wait at the security checkpoint for our food; but also for her rude and passive agressive behavior. If she doesn't like her job then she should quit and go find a job where she doesn't have to interact with people. She acts as though she's forced to be there.

Thank goodness for Michael. He did his best to make sure that we got everything we wanted in a timely manner. He was the only person in that place who exhibited efficiency, professionalism...
