Celebrated my birthday here on a Saturday night. I was in a party of five and we had a fantastic experience!
Food: Absolutely delicious! There were five people in my party, one person was vegetarian and the other four eat meat. Everyone had a great meal and really enjoyed the food. We ordered: Wonton Soup, Chili Wontons, General Tso's Divine, Mongolian Wonder, Veggie Delight, Mapo Tofu, Fried Rice, and Chow Mein. There was PLENTY of food for everyone, plus multiple meals' worth of leftovers.
Price: Very reasonable pricing, especially considering the portion sizes. Often times vegan restaurants are more expensive than places that serve meat, that's not the case with Walk the Wok. Approximately $10 to $20 per person if you order one dish per person (which is plenty of food!).
Service: The service was great, especially considering the owner was the only one there. He was taking dine-in orders, online/phone orders, cooking, waiting on us, etc. He was busy, but still did a WONDERFUL job of making sure we had everything we needed. When we ordered, he let us know it would be a lot of food, I said that's okay, we will take leftovers home. I appreciate that he gave us this heads up, he knew it was our first time dining there. Several minutes after I ordered, I realized I needed to adjust the spice levels of some of the dishes to ensure everyone in my party could eat everything. He was so patient and worked with me to go through each of the dishes to discuss their default spice level and adjust them as needed.
I really enjoyed my experience and am looking forward to coming back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe got the Chic Drumsticks (4/5), Spicy Cha Cha (4/5), and the Sweet and Sour (2.5/5).
Food: The drumsticks were delicious! We were amazed by the texture and flavor and thinking to ourselves how we could make something like it at home. I ordered the Spicy Cha Cha and it was delicious. I wish it had been a lil more spicy but that's cause I usually like things pretty spicy. My partner ordered the Sweet and Sour and it was unfortunately not as good as the others. The ham-like protein was harder to bite than we expected, and the sweet and sour sauce was lacking in flavor. Mostly just wan't flavorful enough and the flavor that was there, we didn't like too much. It was a bit too dry for us. But, sometimes that's how it goes. Even my favorite restaurants have dishes that are off sometimes. Overall though, everything had awesome portions and we were that perfect amount of full. With how good everything else was, I would like to come back and try some more things.
Service/Atmosphere: Super chill place. We were the only ones there and our server/cook, Jorge, was super kind and attentive. Even though he was the only one running the store, he served us and several other customers who called food to-go. Even with all that, he would check in on us and even offered us a couple different sauces, which I don't know if they usually come with the food but regardless, they were tasty and he was overall fantastic. A very kind gentleman. I hope the best for the business and for more folks to try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhere do I start - we had consistently been going to Loving Hut since 2011, so we were excited when they reopened as Walk the Wok. Went last night, with ample time, to give it a try before a show. The parking pay box was giving us issues so we went in to see if they knew a trick or something. The guy was nice and pointed us across the street to the other box we couldn't see behind a van (and it was dark). Went back in to get seated when he then told us it would be at least a 45-minute wait for food because they had so many Uber Eats and Doordash orders (there were only two other people dining in). We had to be at a show at a certain time, but 45 minutes might work, so we sat down, and then he came out and told us it would be at least an hour. He could have told us that when we came in and asked about the parking meter. He apologized saying he thought he should have. We told him we couldn't wait that long and asked if they could prioritize a dine-in order since we were there! (Shouldn't have to ask that!) He told us that's how their system works. If we wanted something quickly, we could have anything deep-fried. Very disappointing. When Ping ran the place, it was hopping with dine-in and to-go orders, no problem. We wanted to like Walk the Wok so bad, but this was not a good experience, and...
