My recent stay at Hotel Vance, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, in Portland was a delightful experience that warrants a four-star rating. The hotel's charming ambiance, convenient location, and attentive service made for a memorable visit.
The Hotel Vance's location is a major advantage, situated in the heart of downtown Portland. It offers easy access to a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. The proximity to public transportation options further adds to the convenience of getting around and experiencing all that Portland has to offer.
The hotel's ambiance is welcoming and exudes a unique charm. The historic building has been tastefully renovated, blending vintage elements with contemporary touches. The stylish decor and comfortable seating areas in the lobby create a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for a pleasant stay.
The accommodations at Hotel Vance were comfortable and well-maintained. The rooms were clean, and the beds provided a restful night's sleep. The amenities offered were sufficient for a comfortable stay, although some aspects, such as the bathroom fixtures and furnishings, could benefit from modernization and attention to detail.
The staff at Hotel Vance was attentive and friendly throughout my stay. From check-in to check-out, they were responsive to inquiries and went out of their way to ensure a pleasant experience. The concierge service was particularly helpful, offering recommendations and assistance with navigating the city and making reservations at local attractions and restaurants.
The hotel's dining options were satisfactory, with an on-site restaurant providing convenient breakfast and dining choices. The quality of the food and service was decent, but there are also numerous dining options within walking distance of the hotel that offer more diverse and memorable culinary experiences.
The hotel's amenities, including the fitness center and business facilities, were adequate and met my needs during my stay. The fitness center offered a decent selection of equipment for a basic workout, and the business facilities provided a suitable space for work-related tasks. However, it would be beneficial for the hotel to consider expanding and enhancing these amenities to cater to a wider range of guest preferences.
One aspect that could be improved is the soundproofing in the rooms. Noise from neighboring rooms and the hallway could be occasionally disruptive, impacting the overall tranquility of the stay. Implementing measures to mitigate noise disturbances would contribute to a more restful and comfortable experience.
In conclusion, Hotel Vance, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, offers a charming and convenient stay in the heart of downtown Portland. The hotel's ambiance, attentive service, and central location make it a solid choice for exploring the city. While there are areas that could be improved, such as room soundproofing and updating certain aspects of the accommodations, the overall experience was enjoyable...
Read moreThe hotel has a 50-50 split of good and bad qualities. I came on business and stayed 4 nights. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, temperature was adjustable. The bathroom was adequate, the water pressure in the shower was good. However the shower was a half open shower so you’re always getting that cold uncomfortable breeze, but that’s a matter of preference. The grout had mold and mildew growing, so that’s not a good sign. No one wants to be breathing that in. The hand soap, conditioner, and body lotion provided are Eco brand by Green culture. The shampoo is Jose eber. They smell fine, I usually bring my own with me, so I can’t speak to how great these brand are for you. The room has a good size closet and desk, with an extra cabinet containing a safe, coffee maker, and refrigerator. A great addition would be a small microwave, but if you’re not here too long you can make due with room service. They also provide an ironing board and iron. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. The elevator requires a room key to use it, which is a nice safety feature in a city like Portland. The on site restaurant is Beastro, I’ve completed a separate review for them. They also provide room service from 7am to 930pm, which is pretty reasonable. There’s also a Starbucks right next door which can be accessed from the lobby without having to leave the building, and it’s a full blow Starbucks, not a small add in cafe. The parking situation is typical for Portland, pay a lot to park in the garage, or be inconvenienced with street parking. There is no differentiation for those staying at the hotel or simply using the garage and staying elsewhere, it’s 45$ for overnight and then the price varies by length of stay during the day. I didn’t get a chance to check out the fitness center and the website mentions the availability of adjoined rooms and allowing pets, so I may consider revisiting in the future with the kids and the dogs. If so I’ll update my review to include more...
Read moreThis hotel's service was terrible. The parking is $45 a night. Let's start there. So when I parked immediately in front with the lobby having huge floor to ceiling windows I thought I'd be safe since there is 24 hour staffing and a busy restaurant in the lobby. However, when I took my dogs down to go out at 5am I first saw the lobby Starbucks employees coming to work, and then as I came back around the block, I interrupted 2 young men who were breaking into my husband's truck. They had used a tool to pop the glass on the passenger window and were pulling open the door when I surprised them, and they left but not before assaulting me. I was sprayed with Bear Mace by one of them and left choking and blinded. Luckily for me I had a nice homeless gentleman help assist me since I was unable to get my keycard to let me back into the hotel and could not see for another hour. Not only did I get locked out of the hotel leaving me to sit on the concrete in the freezing cold doused in mace, but no employee was around to assist me in any way for over an hour. When the front desk person did finally appear nothing was done to offer me assistance in any way. I asked if we could at least move our truck into the garage and have a late check out comped and I was told this would happen however I was charged an additional $70 for this "courtesy" and the day concierge was dismissive and rude. When I called to have the acxountinf corrected I had to call 3 separate days and it took them over a week to return the Charles to my account. The staff of this hotel made a traumatizing experience worse. They did nothing to be of assistance and treated me as if my being a guest was an inconvenience to them. I will never stay here again and suggest if you are considering being a guest you should look elsewhere. The safety of this hotel is not good and the way their staff handled an incident made it exponentially worse. 2 star a for the location minus safety concerns and the...
