We purchase sandwiches here often -- I usually get the turkey/cranberry/stuffing on sourdough bread, which my coworker got today, and I opted for a BLT w/turkey on sourdough.
It took significantly longer than normal to fill my order - my coworker, who was in line behind me, and several other folks who came after me, got their orders first, and I was still waiting. When I asked, I was told it was being worked on "next" --- and still I waited. When I asked again, I was offered a refund -- not what I wanted and as I explained that was not what I wanted I got a "well you've asked twice now". (not what I would think triggers a refund, but should trigger an explanation or an apology and my sandwich coming out). The staff person then went into a litany of process and "egg sandwiches" taking more time - which actually sent me into slight panic mode as I did not order an egg sandwich .... the staffer got more agitated and annoyed with me .... However my sandwich did arrive and my coworker and I left ....
As we walked back to the office, we discussed the exchange --- the only thing we can figure is that because my turkey sandwich had bacon and her turkey sandwich did not have bacon, that put my sandwich into a different line (where egg sandwiches are made with bacon??) ..... we never did figure out exactly what the staff person was trying (poorly) to explain but that is our best guess ....
In any event - got my sandwich - BLT with Mayo and Turkey on Sourdough ..... it is the BEST BLT and the BEST way to have a turkey sandwich -- hands down, no question, just fabulous.
Turkey was good - not wet and slimy; the sourdough bread was fresh and flavorful; the lettuce was crunchy and the tomato just the right amount of ripe to be refreshing and the mayo "just right"; the bacon was crisp .... the sandwich was full and overall I would give it an A+ ....
Definitely recommend this for a hearty lunch (you can get an accompanying soup, or pick up some yummy cookies for dessert).
I'd add a photo but I...
Read moreEvery year for the last 20+ years, I have had Cereâs sticky buns for my birthday breakfast. We stop on our way up to Maine and, depending on our timing, throw them in the freezer to last until my birthday. Now my family comes to Maine from all directions, but we all still make sure to stop at Cereâs, even if itâs a little out of the way. We get Tea, coffee and treats for the rest of the car ride, breaking whatever healthy diet weâve been on only for Cereâs. My birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and Iâm counting down the days til I get there. I know Iâve finally made it to vacation when I reach their door. Thank you Cereâs for being such a special part of our...
Read moreI love Ceres Bakery!! The lunch special is convenient, reasonably priced and always delicious. I love the variety. If the special isn't something I want, they also have quiches, soups, salads, and sandwiches - all great choices, you can't go wrong. I end up going here twice a week these days because it's the best lunch stop in town, especially for the price.
The baked goods, be they sweets or breads, are fantastic; I've tried something new every time and always been satisfied. The scones here are better than any other scone I've found in a bakery. On top of all of this, the cafe is very cute. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. I can't get...
