Beautiful atmosphere however service is the worst I’ve ever experienced in Portsmouth. Not sure if the woman at the front was having a bad day but she made a lot of condescending comments. When we arrived we have never been so we were taking in all the beautiful things on display. The woman never greeted us and simply asked if we were doing takeout or needed a table. My husband stated it was our first time here and we weere still looking. She doesn’t respond but aggressively flips over a menu in front of him. Despite this we stayed (our mistake) while my oldest picked what she wanted my 4 year old grabbed a seat with my husband while we ordered. Keep in mind it’s not busy- there was only one other party seated. It’s a Thursday afternoon so fairly dead. I place my order and she scoffs “so you’re staying then” I said yes please we’ll eat here. She then responds “I see you’re all spread out you need to stay together”. My oldest was standing next to me and youngest again with my husband. I responded “oh we’re still going to sit together my daughter is just here to order with me” she laughs *condescendingly * “Four people at a two top- okay” and rolls here eyes. No offense but what is your deal lol I don’t respond because at this point it seems like she’s just looking for someone to argue with. I hate leaving low star reviews especially for small businesses but this is NOT how you run a business. And then for her to ask for a tip on top of that is obscene. Won’t be coming back which is a shame, it’s truly gorgeous here. Hopefully someone can speak to her about how she treats and speaks...
Read moreTwo stars because the decor is cute and my daughter enjoyed her mac and cheese. After waiting 30 minutes for our food, my beef bourguignon "crepe" was dry and ice cold and when my sister very kindly mentioned that to the server, the server completely ignored her and walked away. Very strange. Not even an "I'm sorry, I'll let the kitchen know." It was just weird because my sister was so nice and we were an extremely easy table. I try to take accountability when I'm in the wrong, but there truly was no need for the reaction we received. She never came back to our table and sent another sweet girl over. At that point, I was extremely aggravated by the treatment we were getting and was ready to confront the rude server, but decided not to create a scene. Also, I put "crepe" in quotes because it didn't taste like a crepe. It had the taste and texture of a tortilla, which would have been delicious had the filling not been cold. They did end up taking the crepe off our bill, which was nice, but we would have preferred to pay for it and receive kind treatment instead. Pretty disappointing experience because the place has the potential to...
Read moreAs one would imagine, anywhere that has the bravery to name their restaurant "Fezzigwig's" better step up and deliver on such a name. No other name brings you to the feel and delight of a feast as one had by the characters in A Christmas Carole.
Let me tell you, we walked away and all we could say was... Amazing! This place is just a perfect lil gem near downtown Portsmouth, NH. We walked in and we were immediately greeted and seated. They took our order promptly and then we had time to absorb the juju. Sparking lights decorate the entire space from the ceiling with walls of shelves of delightful little treats and knick-knacks one could buy... from tea to tea cups!
The food was out of this world! I had the Classic Breakfast and my partner had the Mayflower Sandwich - both were absolutely delicious! I have nothing but praise for the chef.
Cost - on point. Food - above par! Ambiance - delightful! Will we be back? YUP! Actually headed back to Portsmouth next week and have both brought up our excitement to eat at Fezziwig's again!...
