Let me start by saying this place use to be in my regular rotation of mexican spots. Their quality and portion sizes have went down tremendously in the last year. Ive had several somewhat questionable if not disappointing visits in this past year but my most recent will be the last. Made an order for 2 orders of quesbirria (comes with consome) a birria quesadilla (also comes with consome) 4 pastor tacos, 4 carne asada tacos, and 4 chicken tacos. Resquested extra salsa verde and salsa roja (informed them id be willing to pay extra charge if necessary they said it wasnt). Order total comes to $87.92. I only state the total for context. Not only were all the tacos extremely skimpy on the chosen proteins but the carne asada was very dry and bland. We didnt get a single side of the consome that should have come with three of the menu items ordered. They gave me 8 containers of roja salsa and 3 verde. ( for those unfamiliar with traditional tacos, when ordered they always come with limes and one cup of roja and verde salsas) For 87.00 i dont feel like this many issues is acceptable and its become a regular occurence with this establishment. It is unfortunate as they really were in my regular weekly rotation for authentic mexican food. Woukdnt recommend this place to anyone as its been a steady decline for the better part...
Read moreDiscovered Tacos Don Deme shortly after they opened when a random IG Reel of theirs had me nearly drooling on my phone. Have been back a dozen times since. They already belong in the discussion for best all-around taqueria in Columbus -- right up there with Super Torta, Los Guachos, Tula, etc.
Star of the show is obviously their quesabirria tacos. The tacos are fried perfectly on the flattop and smothered in melted cheese. The beef is tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The consomé....oh my the consomé. I'm not embarrassed to say I've actually drank the remaining portion of it when we were finished dipping our tacos -- it's that good. Quesadillas are very good too, as are many of their more standard taco offerings. The castillos en salsa verde were fantastic -- perfectly done and swimming in a delectable sauce.
Solid drink choices with a pretty solid horchata, handful of Jarritos, aguas fresca, etc. Coffee is surprisingly very good and quite strong.
Staff is always very friendly & welcoming, and the kitchen churns the food out very quickly.
If it's your first time, recommend ordering the quesabirria plate (3 tacos + consomé) and a side of the choriqueso. You won't be...
Read moreEdit: I'm changing my review from five stars to one & and honestly, I'd go lower if I could. I ended up being rushed to the hospital as well as my wife for severe food poisoning. We've been recovering for nearly a week now & I still feel terrible. I've had food poisoning before, but nothing like this. I really liked the California burritos & I drove an hour & a half to get them. Never again will I eat here. And I'm definitely making a report. This is unacceptable. To have two different orders get contaminated means you're doing something wrong. I don't want a refund, I don't want free food. I want y'all to have & keep proper food safety standards.
Original below: I always get the loaded burrito & yes it is amazing. The salsa could use a bit or work, it's watery & the chips were semi stale last time. The staff are super friendly & the food comes out correctly & hot even with big orders, where as most places mess times up & either bring cold food or had it under...
