This is the first negative review I've ever written about a restaurant (or any place of business for that matter). This is because I have no interest in putting others down or putting unnecessary negativity out into the world. Furthermore, if I'm not crazy about a place, I simply don't go back. I realize that running a business is incredibly challenging and the last thing a business needs is some guy on the internet writing a scathing review. But, folks, this experience was especially bad. I can confidently say that this was the worst meal of my life (and this does, in fact, include jail food). Let it be known that I'm not some connoisseur with exquisite tastes. Some might even argue that I'm not discerning enough. I've even been accused of being a "human garbage disposal" by those who know me. On the rare occasion that I don't finish my meal at the restaurant, I ALWAYS take the food home... even if I didn't particularly love the food. This marks the first time that I didn't finish the meal and, when asked if I wanted a box, immediately declined the offer. I still left a 20% tip despite the service also being terrible. This is a side effect of being massively codependent, I'm afraid... Which brings me to my final point: I don't leave negative reviews. So, why did I do so here? I think the meal and service was so terrible that it inspired me to write this lengthy dissertation in an attempt to cleanse myself of the experience. I must admit, the process has been cathartic. And maybe I learned a little something about myself in the process. I commit to say something to the proprietor next time as opposed to hiding behind my keyboard for fear of hurting the business owners' feelings (I do doubt, however, that I'll have such a negative experience in the future). Lastly, I ask the business have the courtesy to not respond to this review with an apology nor some hollow promise about how important customer satisfaction is to the business. I'd like to think that I've been fairly transparent in my review and the only way to reciprocate this transparency would be for the business to admit to serving really low quality food. Alright, well I should be going. I can already feel my codependency creeping in and beckoning me to not hit the 'post' button. Sorry....
Read moreHubby and I love Mexican food and we have been so disappointed with the local choices lately. That is until we tried this place! WOW! It is SQUEAKY CLEAN, for one, and the decor is very nice. It's quiet and there was good parking. We were greeted and seated promptly and the people were very friendly. It was easy to find something we would like to order on the menu. The first thing we noticed after how wonderfully clean it is, was the chips were fresh, not greasy, and toasty warm. The salsa is authentic and flavorful and has some mild heat, just perfect, the way I would make it at home. Too many restaurants around here seem to think salsa is a can of diced tomatoes and a can of green chilies...NO. This stuff is so good I would buy it for a snack at home.
I ordered shredded beef tacos. We were really impressed that the shells were still crispy and crunchy and instead of sitting in grease, they were just moist and tender, like a dream. I couldn't get over how much better they are than anything we have found within 100 miles of here. You can tell these people truly know food and they really care about it. Hubby got the pollo fundida, and was blown away by the homemade freshness and rich flavors. The tortillas were also fresh and moist and hot. It all looked amazing and I was almost jealous lol. (He wants to try the pollo fundida chimichanga next time). We don't drink but wow they have an impressive bar! It looked like they have a great selection of liquors for just about anything you want. We have overlooked this place for at least a year and now just kicking ourselves, because this is our new favorite. Friendly people who take pride in what they do. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!...
Read morePassing through Prescott/Prescott Valley , I needed a place to eat before continuing on my work trip and stumbled upon this little gem. Casa Perez might look unassuming from the outside, but once you open the door, you're greeted by Mariachi mexican music coming from the speakers and bright and lively colors and decor. Many restaurants that play music sometimes play it a little too loudly, and regardless of the genre, it could be spa music, when played too loud, could be bothersome. I was pleased that the music was not too loud and overbearing and truthfully quite enjoyable. It definitely added to the pleasant atmosphere and complimented the overall feel and look of the place. The bright yellow walls decorated with Mexican ranch-style (Charro) items, wagon wheel lamps, and charro gear is a nice contrast to the very colorful decor on the back of each booth and chair, depicting a different Mexican desert-themed scene. You are immediately greeted by the well-dressed and very friendly staff wearing charro shirts and bows. The menu also doesn't disappoint. It has a very good variety of authentic Mexican dishes from tacos, enchiladas, sopes, burritos, and more to some nice seafood selections. I got my order to go and was pleased to see that even though I didn't eat in, they still packed the chips and salsa I would've enjoyed if I had. The food was delicious! The serving was quite generous, and I was very pleased with the overall quality and taste of the food. Will definitely be stopping here again if/when I have to pass through Prescott/Prescott...
