Not Pleased with Service
Tonight (05/25/21) may wife & I went to Salsa TexMex Restaurant in Prosper for dinner. We arrived at 7:30 pm & had a short wait for a table inside. As the hostess was seating us we noticed the table had not been wiped down and had drink rings on it. The hostess went and got a wet rag & returned to wipe the table down. Once seated the waitress came & took our drink order. Then I sat my hand down on my side of the table there was something very sticky. When the chip & salsa guy came, we told him & he immediately went & got a rag & came back & cleaned the table for us. The waitress came back & took our order. My wife ordered a salad & asked the waitress to give her salsa as dressing with her meal. I order a dish & asked to have onions on top with charro beans. Our meal was delivered by a food runner. My wife said “Sir, I had asked the waitress to bring me salsa to be use as the dressing” and the food runner said “the waitress will be here in a minute” and he walked away. We were shocked. Besides needing the salsa, the cook had failed to put onions on my order, I needed a spoon for the charro beans & my iced tea glass was empty. So we sat there and waited. We watched from across the dining room as our waitress continued to greet table after table taking their drink orders. Finally, after close to ten minutes of sitting & waiting my wife saw our waitress towards the back by the kitchen. My wife walked back there & was telling the waitress how long we had been waiting on her & the needed items. The waitress just pointed and said that’s the manager & walked away. My wife said that’s it, we are leaving. My wife explained to the Hispanic lady manager our concerns & how long we had been waiting & all the manager could say was “I’m sorry, I’m sorry”. She never once said let me take care of you myself, let me get you another waitress or let’s get you taken care of right now. Nothing but “I’m sorry”. So my wife said we are leaving & we will not be back & all the manager could say was “I’m sorry”. So we left. If this is the norm for this restaurant I can see why they had so many open tables & not to say anything bad about this business but if this is the way the waitress, the food runner & the manager treat their patrons we don’t want to do...
Read moreThe wait seems to always be long, but the waitstaff are on the ball, and the food and drinks are good. The only reason this didn't get 5*s is because we were sitting in the outside seating area and a pigeon was flying around inside and it was a bit disconcerting to many in our group of 9. It is hard to try to enjoy the delicious food and tasty drinks when you are poised to cover your head and food multiple times during the time there. As far as the rest of the atmosphere, the patio is adjacent to a fenced lot. There were kids playing with a soccer ball, together, while the adults from their group are and talked. It's a loud, and friendly mix of families, groups of friends, or folks who didn't want to sit inside the restaurant. I have been here a few times now and everything from staff to food seems consistent. They bring a black bean dip, along with the salsa and chips, so lighter eaters may get full by the time they order. Ordering the ground beef Tex Mex nachos and an imported beer set me back just under $18 without the tip. The portion was generous and everything was loaded up. Instead of having stacked nachos, they separately top each nacho with beans, meat, cheese, etc., so if you are sharing you could easily divide it up into portions, or each person could grab a smothered chip. The guacamole in the center is a bit small for the number of chips, yet the amount of jalapeños were ample. Everyone at our table was served within an acceptable frame so we were able to eat together, something we have had issues with at times in larger groups other places. One person ordered the Tres Leches cake, since they had eaten before coming over, and it looked amazing! None of us had any room left, or it would have been something I would have ordered. Thinking about it now, it would be a tasty thing to take-out if the parking lot wasn't always jam packed. There would be no hesitation to come back with family, or friends for the food and consistency, it is a solid choice. Our seating choice may depend on what they feel about...
Read moreWe were excited about visiting this new restaurant in the Prosper / Celina area. We expected a small wait given that it was a new location. After waiting in an unorganized line thru the main doors into the side walk we were told it would be a 5-10 min wait for a table for two on the patio. We chose to wait outside for the buzzer to ring observing many tables that were vacant on the patio. After 15 min had passed I inquired as to why we were still waiting for a table with so many open on the patio? I was told from one of the hostesses, who already had a small attitude and seemed overwhelmed that they were deciding where to seat two large parties that were ahead of us. Given every reassurance that it would maybe five minutes more we continued to wait outside still seeing the same tables vacant. The buzzer finally went off and the hostess continued to have an attitude when I was explaining my frustration as a customer that we waited almost 25 min to be seated at a table that was open the entire time. She was raising her voice to a point that was noticeable by other patrons of the restaurant and was embarrassing. She continued to tell us that her manager said not to seat anyone at any of these tables until they decided about the larger parties. We did speak with the manager about the overall experonce only to concluded that it took the management and hostess staff 25 min to make an executive decision on where to seat patrons while others waited. That's unacceptable in a restaurant / bar environment. Every seat empty is money lost. We have decided not to revisit this location given the lack of experience to efficiently run a restaurant or business for that matter. It's quite a shame because they do have a...
