I don't know what the heck to this restaurant, it used to be a staple of Cambodian and Vietnamese cuisine in Providence. I have been a long time customer since the doors opened back in the mid 2000's. I'm sorry to say this, but over the last few years, the quality of the food has been on a steep decline, they changed the business quite a bit during COVID to a more to-go oriented service and I feel like the quality of the food has just gotten disappointing. I used to order from here several times a year and up to once or twice a month in 2021. I feel like in mid-2022 they really just fell flat. I believe new owners took over and everything kind of fell apart. None of the dishes are as good as the used to be, the ingredients don't seem very fresh anymore, bland, improperly cooked, and just about everything I have received from this restaurant over the last two years has been a total let down. The service has also suffered and there is usually only one wait staff member in the dining room and they aren't as attentive (not a big deal for this style of restaurant, but I still feel it's worth mentioning and I could easily overlook it if the food was still up to par). This used to be my go-to for fast tasty food on a budget, I honestly doubt I will return. The original location is still very good and has yet to let me down, I believe the other location on the South side is still owned by the same family, but Palace just isn't the one...
Read moreWe absolutely ADORE the Apsara on Public street but we tried the hope street location since public street wasn't offering delivery. I hate to say it, because I was really praying it would be the same. It is not as good. Not even close. I won't be ordering from this apsara again. Nothing can compare to the public street location! The portions were MUCH smaller, they didn't send enough utensils (we ordered enough food for 4 people &got 1 set of plastic utensils!), didn't send enough condiments (the 2 little containers of duck sauce weren't even half full!), some of the food was ice cold, the eggrolls had imitation crab. in them!!! (That's disgusting!!) &the fried rice was pretty disappointing. The fried rice on public street is the BEST fried rice I've ever had anywhere &they actually fill the container, not just half fill it. The gen tso chicken was half full of chicken &half full of broccoli &lacked the deep smoky flavor of the public street location. It's a sad replacement for it's sister site on public street unfortunately. We were sad to discover this. The best thing about the food was the beef terriyaki &the cambodian noodles. I have no complaints on those. I'm here to tell you that even if you live closer to the hope location, do yourself a huge favor &order from public street....
Read moreI just had the worst experience of my life at this establishment. I dined in with my 10 year old son and we ordered shrimp nim chow (delicious), scallion pancakes (delicious), sticky chicken wings (just ok) and chicken pad thai (inedible). I told the staff that the pad thai smelled terrible and I couldn't eat it. He told me that it was what I ordered and I should have "done my research". What research? Yes, I understand what pad thai is and I have had it other places. He got upset with me because he said it was what I ordered so it is what it is and he caused a big scene in the restaurant. He told me that he didn't care if I ever returned there. He also proceeded to tell me that no one wants to wait tables anymore anyway and he doesn't care at all. This interaction was uncalled for. I simply told him that I was disappointed that it was inedible but that it was ok and I would pay for it. There was no need for a volatile situation. I'm deeply disturbed that I could be treated so horribly for no reason at all. I didn't deserve the treatment I received from this place. I will never go back here again. It's just so horrible that people can treat each other this way. Please don't support this place because they don't...
