Hope St on the East Side is a bit cut-throat. The restaurant industry being as difficult as it is, Hope Street Pizza and Family Restaurant does a good job.
Like the pizzerias of old days, the menu is jacked up with options. There are salads, sandwiches, dinner combos, and pizzas. They also offer a few allergen friendly options such as gluten-free pizza crusts and pasta. Please note, they do not have gluten-free bread for sandwiches. For anyone who stores gluten-free goods, we all know how costly it is to have it, and it goes rotten. So Hope Street Pizza and Family Restaurant is strategic in their menu options.
I'd like to make a remark about how this business also supports sustainability. They had paper packaging with their take out items. Thumbs up for moving forward with that!
Finally, the food review. A lamb souvlaki dinner was ordered, with french fries and a side salad (which was extra cost). The total was around $20 to $21 dollars, and included plenty of food to match the price. The lamb was flavorful and amply decorated with a tzatziki sauce. Fries were the standard cut and come preseasoned. The side salad had a variety of vegetables that were not lettuce.
I finished my meal feeling FULL. There was even enough to share with my partner. This was a great place to come to, and I will be making more trips to this place just based on their packaging choice. It can be expensive, but I don't think I want to poke into a styrofoam packaging and have it be a part of the side salad I'm eating.
Good job, Hope Street Pizza and Family Restaurant! Thanks for...
Read moreMy family has been going to Hope Street Pizza since they opened. I love their food. I've never had a bad meal there. It is a family restaurant - for families and run by a family. As a regular, there is a real feeling of being part of the family whenever we go in. Most of the employees have been there for years. It is a Greek pizza joint which is definitely different from an Italian pizza joint. I hope I'm not revealing a trade secret but they use a combination of cheeses on their pizzas that includes some cheddar and it really is great. I'm not a big fan of feta but their's is awesome. Their salads have been a fantastic mesculun-style incredibly fresh mix since way before that became the fashion. Their gyro and slouvaki are yummy. The marinara sauce on their pasta dishes is really good and their calamari is just right. Sometimes they have specials that aren't on the menu and they are always great. Seriously, the best filet mignon I've ever had have be there. One of the things I love most about HSP, is that it evolves over time (even as the seasons change). They try out new things on the menu, they change up the decor, they bring in different beer and wine. What can I say? I love the place. We go there for family get-togethers. We bring people there from out of town. And the prices, especially in light of the quality of the food, are very reasonable. For a dine-in pizza place, there is no better place than Hope Street Pizza in...
Read moreI took a friend to dinner on 3/29/23. There was a long delay of about an hour and we inquired about the food. My friend requested to take it to go. The waitress (an elderly woman with a strong accent) came back out my food on the table and immediately left before we could say a word. I asked my friend what we were going to do and he said I guess we're eating here. So I ate and he sat there hungry. After another long delay with little forthcoming info my friend then informed the waitress to have it ready to go. Finally as after about 2 hours waiting in total he got his food. My friend gets up before 5am for work and at that point it was just too late for him to eat a meal. The night was basically ruined by whatever was going on at Hope St Pizza and the awful waitress. We called it a night and he dropped me off. I wanted to be kind and take a friend out for dinner and it went so incredibly badly, not only did my friend go hungry, it ruined our night, our time and my hard earned money was wasted. This was clearly the worst dining experience I've ever witnessed in my life. This place needs to get it together and train the waitress or find...
