alright, stay with me while i get on my hands and knees and bow to the absolute best vegan ice cream i have ever had (and will ever have). my husband and i were in providence for only 3 days, we went to Like No Udder 3 times…and wanted to go 4, but we couldn’t make it out of dinner with my grandma before 9 (i love you, grandma, but have you ever had pistachio ice cream that makes you shed a tear????) i was able to compliment the geeeeenius behind the unreal-delicious-can’t-believe-i-don’t-live-here ice cream, and i hope she genuinely knows i wasn’t bluffing when i said i ate pistachio gelato every day when i lived in italy, and id choose her pistachio ice cream every single day of the week and twice on sundays.šŸ¤Ž also….everyone behind the counter makes me want to cry because they’re all so kind, nice, and literally just make me want to smile. i’m emotional writing this because i want to move to providence for this business (and the joint one in the building, PVD, but that’ll be on another review….) thank you, from lil ol me, my husband, and the animals.šŸ¤Ž we will be making the return trip to providence mostly for the ice cream and deli…(and grandma)

Update 2024: LNU just opened in their new space and it's great. Nice and big & bright, same wonderful ice cream & service. Like No Udder is amazing! They have all vegan ice cream and snacks, and their ice cream cookie sandwiches are the best. I also recommend trying their shakes and/or unicorns (like a mcflurry), you can build your own or get their 'unicorn of the week'. You can also buy vegan snack foods there like candy bars, jerky & soy curls, and merch (think stickers, pins & tees). One of my fav things about them is their Mitzvah board, which lets you buy an ice cream for someone, or get an ice cream yourself if you're not able to for any reason. There's an online ordering option and they had a to-go window during the pandemic. They have inside seating (a few tables & chairs) and a gender neutral bathroom. They've also teamed up with a lot of local vegan businesses to host pop-up events. The ice cream is yummy, atmosphere is laid back, staff is GREAT, and the prices are affordable. *Queer friendly.

open again!!! just in time for the hot weather. the vibes in there were great, lots of excitement in the air. i got a strawberry soft serve with sprinkles, and ended up going back to get an affogato w/ peanut butter chocolate drip & caramel drizzle šŸ˜‹ I’ve always loved the packaged snacks they carry too! It’s hard finding yummy vegan sweets like these in stores, so I always have to grab something. I do wish there were more cashew free flavors, but thankfully I’m okay with small amounts and the staff is very helpful with communicating allergens and chances of cross contamination. so if you have tree nut or peanut allergies, there aren’t as many options, but you can hopefully find something! but everything is delicious. I’m very excited to see how it fills in when baked goods and such are available! this place is gonna be dangerous for my sweet tooth lol. also I love the new location - it’s not far from my work & it’s close to a lot of cool shops.

Went on 6/2/2023 - I am currently going through an elimination diet and have MANY food restrictions. I was worried and thought I might not be able to have anything or that my questions about what was in everything would exhaust the staff. I could NOT have been more wrong!! The staff there was SO unbelievably kind, patient and understanding. They made me feel valued and understood food sensitivities/allergies deeply and wanted to make sure I felt safe and comfortable having what I picked.

I was trying to tell the owner what I couldn't eat and she then asked if I had a list and went through my whole list (24 things) and told me which ice creams would be safe for me to eat!

I had the hard serve cookie dough and let me tell you - being GF for 7+ years anyways, I haven't had cookie dough in SO long!! This ice cream was creamy (cashew base) and the cookie dough was SO good! I regret not buying a pint while I was there to bring home! My husband (no food issues) had the mint and said it was GREAT! We definitely will be back again for more!

Anyways, if you have food sensitivities/allergies - this is a great place and they TOTALLY understand and will do everything in their power to make you feel safe, seen and comfortable eating there....

This is a window-service ice cream shop with all non-dairy soft and hard serve selections. I visited on a weekday evening in early September and this shop seemed to have a consistent flow of patrons. As other reviewers noted, they do not permit samples. I tried the vanilla shake and medium-sized bowl with one scoop of Thai tea and a scoop of cookies and cream flavored ice cream ($12 total). Everything tasted freshly homemade. I appreciated the creamy and smooth texture of the ice cream which didn't melt too fast. Although my friend seemed to enjoy their milkshake, we agreed that the ice cream lacked flavor, especially compared to traditional non-dairy ice cream. For example, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of tea and cream flavor of the Thai tea flavor and the vanilla shake seemed to actually lack that sweet vanilla flavor of a vanilla shake. The cookie bits in the cookies and cream were clutch for the cookies and cream ice cream, as I didn't taste much 'cream'. 4 stars for the amazing ice cream texture and variety of flavors for those with dietary restrictions. The customer service was also wonderful. The scoops were small and a bit pricey and we were hoping for more flavor. It would help to...
