California Taco Shop — Restaurant in Providence

I had a very awkward experience at this place. I ordered some steak nacho fries with extra meat to go. I asked for 2 separate small containers for my kids since we were sharing, and I wanted to avoid a mess if possible. When I opened the container with the nacho fries, I immediately noticed there was barely any meat on them. (Mind you, I've ordered the exact same thing from here in the past with no issues) I usually don't make a big deal about things, but I did pay for extra meat, so I called the restaurant. The young lady who took our order told us to bring the nacho fries back into the establishment. To my surprise, she claimed that we used the 2 small containers (that I requested earlier for my kids) to remove the meat from the nachos🤣. So I asked her how much did she charge for the extra meat, and she said it was only a dollar. So I told her I couldn't believe she had the audacity to accuse us of such a thing over a dollar worth of extra meat. Her response was that I could go back in and get the dollar if I wanted to (which I did). I'm not sure what past experiences she's had with other customers, but I was a bit shocked that she actually imagined that I ordered the separate containers so that I could remove the meat from the nachos then go back in to try and get over on them. Obviously, they never added the extra meat. Had they added it, I would've never complained. I sure won't be going back to this place. They lost a customer over 1 dollar when they could've easily fixed the problem. ...

The food was among the worst Mexican I've ever had. Not authentic at all and virtually flavorless. I love good Mexican and soul travel to get it. This place was convenient and I guess I got what I deserved for not doing more research. The experience could have been improved had the service been a little better. And buy a little I mean come back and asked us how the food is after you delivered to the table, don't make me have to get up and go to the counter to ask for napkins that should have been brought to us so we received our food, if not before. And apparently it's silverware something that doesn't exist in this business. I'll never go back there and I advise anyone considering it not to do so either. Interesting side note - while dining several people came in to pick up to-go orders so apparently they have a following in the local area but I have to think there must be something in the water that affects these...

Ordered 5 taco rolls online at 12:02pm for ASAP. Walked in at approx 12:15, asked about status of my order, was told that order would not be ready until 1240. Lady at counter went in back, told them I was there, and then proceeded to make wait until 1240. Meanwhile several people came and went with their food while I was forced to wait for an item that I had PREPAID for, and shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to prepare. At 1240 my order was STILL not done. I told them to cancel my order. The lady rudely told me that it’s my fault while refunding the order to my card. They told me it will take 2+ weeks for a refund. However, I am not even confident I will receive my money back. So I anticipate an update in 2 weeks.

Edit: 4/26 - still no refund...
