There’s a new 5/5 cocktail bar on the scene in Providence! (Ok, new may be relative, but I was able to try Glou for the first time yesterday on NYE after having them on my list to visit for months!)
Spectacular cocktail program, service, and vibe all around. Another win for Fox Point to have such a cozy, inviting, and innovative cocktail bar in their backyard.
There were 6 unique cocktails to choose from in addition to 2 bonus NYE drinks, a wine/beer list, plus non-alcoholic drinks, and food. We got there early in our NYE revelry and we were able to find a table for 3 no problem. (We even scored a window seat!) There’s also a heated patio out back to check out if you have a larger party.
The cocktails were spectacular. Well-balanced with an array of different liquor bases and aperitifs—rest-assured there’s going to be something for everyone on this menu. The bartending team is also amazing and wonderfully accommodating. There was one drink I really wanted to try that had roasted cherries in it, but I have a cherry allergy. I let the bartender know and we were able to pivot into a Gin Fizz with honey, ginger, and a dusting of sumac on top!
Can’t wait to return more frequently in 2024 and try the food menu as well. Cheers to the...
Read moreWe popped in for a Saturday refreshment and loved this cozy spot. It’s an intimate space with stool seating at the bar and ample table seating. I loved the candlelit vibe and appreciate the creative touches like the cassette tape menus. The cocktail list is creative and thoughtful, we enjoyed everything we tried. My favorite drink was the pink Flamingo - a sophisticated take on one of my vacation faves - the Miami Vice (or lava flow of Waikiki is yer vacay spot). A bit interactive, dialed in and complex in delivery. We didn’t snack but the provisions sound amazing and I appreciated the soft music that allowed for conversation. Most importantly… we were greeted when we arrived and thanked when we parted. I always appreciate warm and welcoming service, paired...
Read moreFrom the street, Glou presents a charming and demure atmosphere. A white cedar shake hut, with a well lit patio, on a tree lined street. Imagine my surprise when, before even opening the door, club music was blasting so loud that the door handle vibrated in my hands. It’s dark, it’s cozy, it’s deafening. Had 2 amazing carafes of wine, but bar staff notable did not offer or present any water. The cookie was good. The music was much too loud for the crowd, evidenced by the fact that no one was dancing and everyone was shouting. Maybe it was an off night, or whoever had the aux was thrashing at the confines of their cage, but for a couple that wanted a cozy quiet night. We were pleasantly surprised by a sit-down club. 5/5, just give me...
