La Piñata Mexican Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Providence

We ordered the bare minimum, just a quick snack- 2 tacos each for my daughter and I, about 5.50 for one taco - beef, onion,. I asked for lettuce and was charged .52 cents per taco. We ordered a side of rice and beans, but we were only served the beans. So the waiter got the order wrong. The beans were not bad so my daughter didn’t complain. But imagine my surprise when I got the bill and it was $36 and change. Really?? For 2 small tacos with barely any food on them??? When we looked closer at the bill we saw that the waiter took the liberty of adding his over inflated tip to the bill, over 20%. WTH???

Do people know they can go down the street into Olneyville and get THE MOST AMAZING tacos at LA LUPITA for half the price?? With actual food that will leave you feeling satisfied?? A nice taco with lettuce, onion, cilantro, cheese with not 1 but 2 tortillas per taco so they’re not soggy in your hands or fall apart when you eat them?? With free additional salsa? The week before we had gotten 2 tacos each AND an order of chips with guacamole for $23. It was heavenly. I will never again set foot inside La Piñata. It’s too bad bc I really wanted to support small business in my neighborhood and I hate driving through Olneyville. But for the best tacos in Providence Lupita’s...

I really enjoyed the food here and the flavor of everything was. I’m so glad they brought out chips and salsa right away because I was starving.

The appetizer I got was the chili relleno ($10.50) and the texture of it was out of this world! The fried batter created something similar to a tortilla but it was soft like a cloud and barely needed any pressure when I cut it with a fork.

The inside was soft, gooey and had great flavor.

My entrée was the mole enchilada with pork ($17.50). The sauce was on point and had a touch of spicy kick. There were huge chunks of pork in it, wrapped in a perfectly soft tortilla. The rice and refried beans were excellent.

You can easily tell that every component is homemade, especially the tortillas and sauces.

Honest review on what I ordered on 03/28/2025 . I called and ordered the birria tacos with consume. The order was taken promptly and when I arrived the service was great. Price was a shock. I’ve gotten the same exact order other places for 5 dollars less that taste WAY better. The food not so much better. The tortillas were thin and the consume not authentic AT ALL as well as the birria both were non authentic. The sauces weren’t either they both seemed “Americanized” made from some tomato paste.
