Mare Rooftop — Restaurant in Providence

Please read the whole thread :) —Absolutely the most amazing food! The service here has been incredible each time I visit. The atmosphere is breathtaking!! I’d come here every week to eat if I could :) . I highly recommend.

UPDATE: 12/21/2022 Perfect place to visit on any day of the week that they’re open. This is my officially my home. Look at the previous updates and you’ll see why 🤍. Make sure to stop here when you’re in the neighborhood or anywhere from around the world. The love and welcoming atmosphere that is provided here has touched my soul in so many ways ! Absolutely in love - before I go ; the new chef Giuseppe ( I hope I spelled his name correctly) is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! He made this lemon desert with this Italian cream , I shed a couple tears.. several. Can someone please let this man know how talented and appreciated he is, most people don’t get to meet the chefs, this one is a GEM and the many chefs prior . Wow . Wow . Wow . As I sit here eating my desert and writing this review , I think to myself, Mare is all I need. Someone let David know, I am also thankful of this beautiful establishment and will keep coming here for as long as I am alive . Finally but always , A special shout-out to Mike, Justin, and Catherine !!!! I could go on about everyone , you know :) -Nakisha .

UPDATE 10.18.2022 Can I just say again how much I love it here. The Octopus was amazing tonight, I almost walked into the kitchen to shake the persons hand who made my meal. Since I can’t create a new post I’ll just keep adding to this thread . Tonight’s meal was the octopus with the three lemon wedges ( it must be noted o requested my octopus this way) & the the steak frites is phenomenal. The staff here are incredibly pleasant. Hailey is just the kind of person I always want serving me, she just knows how to meet your needs . And Mike works to make sure all his guests are happy and satisfied . Embarrassing experience . Will not be returning . Decided to try and stop in for a drink on a Saturday. Called about 10 minutes prior to attempting visit and was told they could accommodate for table of 3 at 10 pm for some drinks . I told them I would be there in 5 minutes. I was informed over the phone that they would be closing at 11 and I was ok with that. I was not told there was any type of security when I entered the building . Me and a friend arrived at the building and I mentioned I just called and made a reservation for 3. I gave him my name and was told I was not in the reservation list.I explained to him that I called a little while ago and that I spoke to a woman that could accommodate us. He appeared confused by that fact as he said the last reservation is at 10 . I politely asked him to call up and confirm. He did call and there was no answer . I explained to him that I had to call several times myself before I received an answer. Finally said we could try and go up in elevator But in a rude way as if I was lying to him . By this point I was upset as he was accusing me of being drunk . The manager came to lobby area. Said they get a lot of people trying to come up without a reservation and security guard kept saying he was just doing his job . I explained that I thought I was doing my part by calling ahead of time to make sure they could accommodate us . I could understand if I just showed up but this was not the the case . Anyway decided to leave as I was very frustrated at this point . I called back to voice my frustration to the manger rob and he did offer for me to come Back tomorrow for a round of drinks but I declined the offer. He did admit after it was their fault and who ever answered the phone upstairs should have called down to security downstairs to let them know. I understand the security part of it but there was no line outside and no one in the lobby area . If the security guard could of politely said can you wait a few minutes until I get in touch with someone upstairs to confirm instead of questioning me about the legitimacy of my reservation I would have been more than happy to do that . Instead it turned out to a very embarrassing Experience in front of a former...

They have right resources, infrastructure but  lack of  proper  coordination, communication  between management and resources to cater to the need of the customers. Execution capability matters!

Here is my experience on Feb 16, 2019 at 10pm - I thought I chose the best place to propose to my fiance when I read their menu and services especially about the igloo. It was impressive to go through their website about  igloo and have found it in Providence itself; but in reality it was a different story in terms of services. Sad.

I wouldn't recommend to reserve igloo in the winter season especially. I ended up getting sick for next one week after coming from here. They had just one small heater, which wasn't warming the igloo at all. We were super cold.

I had asked them to decorate my igloo considering to them of my wedding proposal which they did it nicely, but somehow front desk manager wasn't aware of the kind of igloo I had requested for and they put us in wrong igloo. Moments after I realized and found we weren't in the right igloo and then they put us into the right igloo.

About the waiter services - personally all the waiter/waitresses were nice, but at least 3 different waiters/waitresses showed up saying they will be taking care of us. We were confused.

They had mentioned we will be having igloo menu on their website, but it was just a regular food menu without entrees. In fact they didn't have anything other than pizza, which we ordered as we had no other option. I felt like we just went to regular place to eat and drink. I thought when we reserve with 500$ we are entitled to get an upscale experience, but that wasn't the case.

They gave us 100$ off, but that wasn't my expectations at all to get a discount but to have full of fun, cozy experience inside the igloo.

It was a disappointment for me. I rate this...
