This place had amazing reviews, so we were excited to try it out. We are from out of town and were looking for a unique and pleasant dining experience to enjoy a night out on the town. Unfortunately, from the time we arrived, it seemed that we were just an inconvenience and afterthought to the staff. Maybe we did not seem like the typical clientele there, but that's no reason to be treated less than. Our waitress seemed like she could have cared less for our table. For 2 people, the entire dinner took an hour and a half, and we didn't even really eat our entree. We had finished both our apps before our waitress even took our dinner order (40 minutes after we were seated). Menus were cleqrly still on the table as no staff checked in whether we needed anything. The host even cleared our table of apps and did not ask anything or check in. Then, instead of apologizing, our waitress just told us how long our chicken dinner would take and if we still wanted to even order. Every other staff member checked in on other tables, but not a single person checked in our table. We heard every table around us asked about special events or about their night out. For us, our waitress dropped off our entrees and asked if we wanted anything else or just the check. By this point, we just wanted to leave. No one even asked us how our dinner was or could be bothered to check in on our way out. The food is the only reason I gave 2 stars, but it's hard to take good food over service. For the price and atmosphere, you would think service and guest experience would be a top priority. Apparently, last night, for us, it wasn't. If you plan on eating here, just know that if you don't fit the appearance of what they think is a good table, you won't be treated like...
Read moreI'm reading this place as a five star restaurant. I had gone here for my wife's wedding and my mother-in-law came along along with a friend in my son. The atmosphere from the moment I walked in was very inviting very home like as it is an old small mansion type house from the late 1800s totally redone inside. I provided some pictures. Once inside and l been seated. The setting of the table and the plates were done elegantly and also well. They were pictures from the mid 1900s of the area. Ironically my mother-in-law's grandmother was posted on the wall of their family fruit market back in 1930 obviously my mother-in-law being 85 and Senior grandmother standing there in the 1930s the person she was named after made the night for everyone. Just the pictures alone are great to look at if you're from the area. They're also pictures on the wall apparently after taking down old wallpaper there was some murals that were on the wall and they've refresh them I believe using people from the local art School RISD. Don't quote me on that I'm going by recall of what I've heard from others. If you're looking for a small family event I believe they rent out rooms and put on a great Italian dinner and cuisine. Buffet style if you so desire or it could be individual plates at the table. On this particular night I found that our waitress her name being Marcella was absolutely phenomenally excellent with the information on wines and what meals were the top sellers and offering her favorites which were on spot for taste and presentation. Highly recommend this for family going out for a night of fine dining or on a date with a special person...
Read moreWe were absolutely thrilled with Maria's Cucina. From the moment I sent an inquiry online to the end of the party.
Chris, the amazing owner, responded to my inquiry via a phone call. Who does that anymore? From the first time we spoke, he was offering top-notch customer service. He walked us through the menu, the layout of the room, and sent pictures of the setup. Mind you, I live in California now and he worked with me via phone and text. Luckily, one of my brothers was able to help locally.
Chris was always so kind to answer all of our questions. Even a week before the party, we switched one of the appetizers due to one of the guests having a severe shellfish allergy. The staff also checked with us when we arrived to ensure the safety of the said guest.
We weren't able to look at the place ahead of time and when we arrived we were SO pleased to see the beautiful decor, stained glass windows, and gorgeous wooden columns around the staircase.
Everything exceeded our expectations. Chris, the staff - especially Michaela and Francesca (we didn't get the names of others), the food, the setup, the way the space flowed, attention to detail, and so much more.
We are eternally grateful that you all made my Mom's 80th birthday an unforgettable event. She was beyond happy with everything. We would absolutely have another event here. Thank you, thank you,...
