This place is outstanding! We went here to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary, and it certainly was a great place for a special occasion. Everything was impressive, from the quality of the food, to the presentation, the service, the romantic background music, and the ambience.
Mauricio, our server, was excellent: very friendly, helpful, attentive and knowledgeable about the wine list too. We had a bottle of the Cabernet, which was delicious.
We had a dramatic appetizer - the "Torta di Granchio" - which was brought to our table covered under a glass done. When the dome was lifted, a plume of smoke wafted out, filled with the wonderful smell of the smoked crab cake, which was served with avocado aioli, tricolor salad & lemon vinaigrette. It tasted delicious too! We also had an appetizer from the Daily Specials Menu: the "Fried Zucchini Blossoms", which were stuffed with pecorino mousse, served with balsamic and water cress. Very yummy.
We each ordered a different main: I had the "Fusili Amatriciana con Gamberoni" from the Daily Specials menu. This came with home-made pasta, shrimp, onion, pancetta and a rich and creamy tomato sauce. It was so delicious, I ate the entire plate (unusual for me!) The amount was not overwhelming - there was plenty but not too much! My husband had the "Fettucini Nero al Frutti di Mare" from the main menu. This came with squid ink fettuccini, shrimp, calamari, mussels, clams and tomato sauce. My son had the "Brasato di Costine di Manzo" which was braised wagyu beef short ribs over a saffron risotto. My daughter had the "Trofie al Pesto Genovese" which was short, twisted pasta with chicken, pine nut pesto, pecorino & parmesan sauce. I had tastes of everyone's dish and they were all delicious.
We ordered two desserts, and they brought out a third one, on the house, as special gift for our anniversary! I had the Tiramisu and it was wonderful - just as you would expect a lovely rich classic Tiramisu to be. My daughter had the Creme Brulee - this was good but was not your classic creme brulee, but rather an interpretation of one. It was artfully presented though. My son had the Banana Flan with caramel sauce and he was very happy with it.
They then surprised us with a free dessert - the "Semi al Freddo Alle Mandorie" which was spectacularly presented. They brought it to the table with a small silver jug of hot chocolate sauce, which they lit on fire and then poured over the tall mound of ice-cream, sending up tall blue flames! It tasted pretty good too!
I would highly recommend this place for any special occasion or to...
Read moreEasily one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to visit. The service person was full of good information about the place and we arrived for lunch but were offered the dinner menu as well. The medallions of beef filet were served perfectly cooked on a bed of homemade mashed potatoes sitting on a rich, dark, delicious sauce. The asparagus with asparagus was okay. I mean, what can you do to asparagus? The tuna that was seared was absolutely fabulous. And both of the pastas were homemade and the sauces were luscious and the service again was great. They give you four starters, a little bucket of focaccia and some homemade chickpea hummus. It's not really hummus, but that's what they called it so we would know what it was. It was very good. It was an amusement, I guess you would call it. The beet salad was unusual because the beets were sliced so thin and very sweet because they were oven roasted and the goat cheese ball was coated with panko crumbs and deep fried for less than thirty seconds. I had mentioned that it was going to be our birthday celebrations for myself and my daughter-in-law and as the meal ended we were waiting for the dessert menu but instead the The server who I think really was a co-owner, brought us some delicious desserts with a little candle on each one. One of them was a creme brulee which looked nothing like your normal creme brulee and I would suggest that if you go there, you try this and a banana type flan which I can't describe other than it was light as a feather and slightly banana flavor. The plate was also covered with a bridge type saws that you may have been butterscotch and...
Read moreThis was an amazing find on our 3/23/24 visit here! We were looking for a wine and charcuterie and this gem did not disappoint! We were greeted by a very nice and friendly host. Walking in the place is quite small and the tables seem somewhat close to each other but the food experience makes you forget about that. We ordered their prosciutto and burrata. The prosciutto is freshly sliced, the burrata was rich and creamy they present it with grilled slices of bread. We ordered a bottle of an Italian wine from Venice. It paired well with our prosciutto and meatballs. It paired well with everything! It was truly one of the best burrata I’ve had. It reminded me of eating in Venice. We also had their meatballs and their octopus appetizer which were all delicious. The octopus has a bit of heat so if that not your thing, skip it, but it was very tasty! The meatball appetizer in my opinion is huge! They were moist, I love the sauce they come in, though the sauce seems a bit in the thin side, they had amazing taste. Everything we had was homemade, fresh and light on the stomach. For desert we had their homemade chocolate lava cake, I loved how chocolatey it was. They also have great cappuccinos! Everything we had was delicately cooked! We will definitely be back soon! So excited we...
