Wow I went here for lunch today. I arrived about 1:40 alone. I first went in and it took the girl a minute or so. But she said that I could seat myself outside and she would be out. I glanced around and there was one person at the bar and one person seated outside. The menu looked good so I ordered a small soup. It took her 10 minutes to get me a soda then another 15 minutes to bring me soup. The soup was small and took me about 5 minutes to eat, the waitress took forever to come back. I then order the bread pudding after waiting 20 minutes, I decided to just leave. I walk in and the waitress was a the back table on her phone. When she saw me she jumped up ran to the pudding and sprayed whipping cream on it and proceeds to bring it out. I told her that I need to get going it was now 2:40 and it's just taking too long, the drink the soup and now the pudding the service is just to slow. She never said a word no response just rang me up and walked away. What I don't understand is why the restaurant was empty. But I guess I know where I won't be going again. Oh the soup was the crab and crawfish. Didn't taste crab and the crawfish was previously frozen which takes away from the flavor. I would not get it again.
It would be nice to see the owner address...
ย ย ย Read moreI went to Shanahan's on the Sunday before Memorial Day. Katie, the wait staffer was absolutely incredible ๐๐๐๐๐!!! Katie was my guide through the menu making recommendations I had not considered having been there three times before. She was attentive and genuinely caring. As a result my meal consisted of an Appetizer: Louisiana Crab and Crawfish Gumbo (Good-- would have loved for it to have been prepared a little more spicy; however an assortment of hot sauces were available on the table to add some heat, if desired. My entree: the Louisiana Ponchatrain which consisted of Lobster, Shrimp and Scallops in a creamy Cajun Alfredo Sauce was served over a bed of buttery fettucine. (Ooo la! la! Marvelously well prepared!) My meal was topped off with an incredible dessert-- a generous slice of Key Lime Pie (Great!) What a wonderful, delectable dining experience on the eve of Memorial Day!! Kudos to the chef but Katie is a model wait staffer doing everything to please her dining guest!! I'll be back and have recommended Shanahan's to many of my friends. Note: Be sure to call first to make sure Katie is scheduled to be working on the day you want to...
ย ย ย Read moreA taste of Louisiana Creole in Forest Park, Illinois. We were not disappointed!
Starters: My husband and I both tried the gumbo, we had the chicken and the shrimp. We couldnโt decide which one was better because they both were so rich and flavorful we wanted seconds.
Drinks: We tried the Hurricane it was too sweet.
Main Entree: I ordered the chicken and andouille sausage jambalaya and my husband ordered the shrimp pontchartrain. The food was great, every bite was full of Louisianas creole right at home. Note: The jambalaya is very spicy! The shrimp pontchartrain was amazing I will definitely get that entree next time.
Atmosphere: cute and cozy, we went on a Sunday early afternoon, not much of a crowd and were okay with that. Servers were attentive and friendly. They have a little store that sells chocolates and wine and we definitely took a bottle of their famous leprechauns fury hot sauce! I highly recommend them and I cannot...
